Fluoxetine, 80 Mg it helps a lot!
Luvox and on rare occasions Klonopin
@Endlessly Pondering i was thinking about questioning to my physician about taking benzodiazepines as i feel this type of medication is the only way out of my intrusive thoughts and i can take when im faceing things that trigger my intrusive thoughts most. so tell me your expierience, what benzodiazepine am i most likely to be prescribed and how to take it without becoming addicted
@emmahitam I strongly believe benzodiazepines have their place in treatment. Some doctors are against them, but you can always find a new one if needed. In my darkest days benzodiazepines have been a literal lifesaver. I try to take them as little as possible in the smallest dose possible. Have you ever taken them before?
@Endlessly Pondering never taken them. my local physican believes that people should only take them before surgery or dental procedure, i will re ask my local physician and explain more in depth about my symptoms and see what she can suggest but i have a friend online who is a physician who lives further away who believes that they will save my life from taboo thoughts, he has suffered too. by the way though im reluctant to seeing a psychiatrist due to past trauma with them
@emmahitam Totally understand, some doctors are very much against them while others hand them out like candy. When used appropriately, they are a lifesaver. I am so sorry your are going through this and hope you get relief soon
@Endlessly Pondering in some ways i rather not people hand them out like candy because i rather be safe than sorry but i also want physicians to give them if the patient believes strongly that they are appropiate but i want physicians to prescribe them in a way so they don't become addictive. anyways what benzo is most likely to be prescribed by my physician?
@emmahitam Klonopin. It’s long acting and takes a while to “kick in”. seems to be favored over quick and hard hitting benzos like Xanax.
@Endlessly Pondering my mate suggested that this is a good one. my mate though takes what we call 'valium' for insomnia and taboo thoughts idk what you call it in the US
@emmahitam We call it the same! I have heard good things about Valium aswell! Hopefully you can get relief.
@emmahitam I’ve found prescribed Gabapentin (100mg +) to help with anxiety attacks and intrusive thoughts plus it’s as needed and non-addictive.
Venlafaxine 75mg. Has helped a lot since I first started taking it. Some days are still better than others but the overwhelming anxiety is not present all of the time anymore
I looked up the ingredients in some of the meds. Mine has antifreeze in it so ya therea that. Lexapro. Propylene glycol i believe it was. I wonder why the dont put it on the bottle?
citolapram 20mg but still struggle strongly with intrusive thoughts and compulsions😔🙏🏽
Venlafaxine, Tryptizol and Quetiapine. It is not perfect but they help a bit and I can see the difference, also I feel like they helping me more in my depression that OCD
this is a discussion you should have with your Dr. as you can see, everyone is on something different and what works for one person might not work for the next. Comparing meds is dangerous because you can give yourself false expectations when you might be trying one of them and stay on the wrong med too long waiting for it to work or not stay on the right one long enough to let it work. In general, SSRIs and SNRIs are the first line in treating OCD/Anxiety/Depression and there are some rapid anxiety/panic abortive medications like Benzos and relaxants for fast relief. discuss this with your Doctor to see what might be the best one for you to try. Life style modifications can do wonders too. walks at a brisk pace that make me pant a bit as well as HOT baths with lavender sooth me very much.
Im on 20 mg of escitalopram and it’s working so far. My anxiety is basically gone but the intrusive thoughts are still present just not as strong. Some odd day here and there the thoughts come back full strength but overall ok. When that happens I take clonazepam or seroquel 1 mg
Prozac and Zoloft both worked well for me!
100mg Zoloft. It helps more than Prozac.
People who are currently taking meds how has life been treating you? Have the intrusive thoughts been reduced? Are you happier and able to do normal activities? (Watch/enjoy tv, read, play sports, go shopping, go to the park, etc.)
Hey guys does anyone mind sharing their experience with medication and how it affected them?
