Old Necklace

That sounds really tough. Maybe it would help if you thought of the necklace as a symbol of growth instead of bad luck. Or what the necklace represents to you now, rather than what it did in the past. If you’re not ready to wear it now, thats totally fine. When you feel ready, maybe you can give it another chance!

Bad things are gonna happen whether you wear the necklace or not but so will good things. This is a good thing to fight your OCD.

Maybe try smaller steps, like keeping it in your pocket, then around your wrist, and move up to wearing it as a necklace

Put the necklace on and lean into the uncertainty! You can knock the hot air out of the OCD compulsions with responses like "maybe I'll have bad luck, and maybe I won't." That is an example of an ERP intervention. I'd love to help with this! I know that it can be really scary to think about exposures like this one, but in addition to facing fears, there is a lot of creativity, laughter, and progress in ERP sessions with my clients.
