Does fluoxetine work for you?
Does it help with the thoughts?how's ur experience with it?

In fact, you shouldn't expect fluoxetine to completely eliminate intrusive thoughts. What you should understand is that the treatment mainly helps reduce emotional symptoms such as depression. It doesn't remove the thoughts themselves if it did, it would erase your entire memory, which no medication like fluoxetine or any SSRI can do. They can't go into your mind and say, 'These are the bad thoughts, let's erase them. So the real solution lies within you. You need to accept those thoughts for what they are just thoughts. When you give them energy and attention, they gain power and can affect you deeply. But if you learn to let them pass without judgment, they lose their grip. Don't burden yourself with thoughts that hold no real value. Just relax, take care of yourself, and trust that healing takes time. I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
Thank you!
I believe I used to take fluoxetine but so far it didn't do much are you currently taking that?
Yes I am!
@misereri Is it helping?
@RudyA So far it's making me super sleepy and I got less appetite. But at night like I feel hyperactive and sometimes I cant stop laughing or smiling for no reason
@misereri Feeling sleepy or feeling like u got a lot of energy & headaches is normal it happens whenever u take a high dosage or when it's your first time taking them
@RudyA Idk if it's working tho I guess I need to wait more time
@misereri Yeah Of course it may take months for you to get used to them but your a strong person you got this
@RudyA Thanks
@RudyA You too!!!
@misereri Thank you so what other meds are you taking?
@RudyA Rn I'm only taking that but I'll have an appointment in 14 days to talk about it
@misereri Oh ok I understand is it like a perception appointment for a refill or is like to increase the dosage?
@RudyA It's to understand what I'm supposed to do going forward, like changing meds etc
@RudyA For the dosage I'm supposed to go up with time
@misereri Oh ok gotcha bc for me I have a monthly zoom meeting with someone who prescribes my medicine rn I'm takeing 100ml for anxiety & for obsessive rituals from ocd
@misereri Have you tried neural feedback?
@RudyA Nope
@RudyA Basically I had to start to take meds a month later but I am lowkey urgent and they decided I needed to take them now and so that's what I'm doing until the next meeting to discuss my diagnosis
@misereri Oh ok I hope that you have insurance so they won't charge you alot is cause I use to have medicade but now I have medicure so is a different story bc I had to change to a different Healthcare program & also have to make sure my current insurance covers my treatments but yea not sure if it's something you also had
@RudyA I'm in Europe and it's actually free, you pay like 3 dollars for 60 ml of fluoxetine of course on prescription. But therapy is free up until when ur 26
@misereri Oh wow that's crazy
@misereri Btw if you don't mind me asking how old are you?
@RudyA I don't mind I'm 18, wbu?
@misereri Ok cool cool the reason why I asked is because I feel comfortable talking to people at my age range 18 & up this is ocd related not sure if you have the same thing
@misereri I'm 24
@misereri So how's your day?
@RudyA Yes dw I get it ! I mean I guess mine is related to ocd too? They confirmed I have intrusive thoughts and fluoxetine is usually for ocd. I am still waiting for the results in 14 days tho so it could be anything..I just find myself having a lot of similarities with ocd
@RudyA Actually I went to the center I go to and talked to the psychiatrist that follows me and he told me that was his last day there and I'm actually pretty sad about it because I don't know I saw him as my savior or something familiar..
@misereri Yea I get that feeling last year I had a great therapist we talked about my ocd how I manage my friendships & all these other important things but unfortunately i stopped seeing this man bc I got my insurance changed he couldn't accept medicure I knew this man for a year a I kinda with i had him again as a therapist
@RudyA I get it, it's always so sad tbh..
@misereri Yeah so what other types of ocd u have?
@RudyA The ones on my profile mostly and I just am fed up with them
@misereri Same I just wish I knew what life would be like if I never had ocd
@RudyA Like I never had this problem before, I had many others but this? Never like in my life I thought I could sit here rn having whatever this is. I'm not saying I felt super happy but definitely better than this and it feels like there's never one way out.
@misereri There is is just gonna take time I'm halfway getting better bc I know I will heal from ocd I'm here for you if you need anything
@misereri I'm glad that we having these conversations I'm glad I'm not the only one so do you wanna be close friends?
@RudyA Yeah sure!
@RudyA How tho?
@misereri Hey are you okay I wanna someone to talk to are you there?
@RudyA Yes
I was diagnosed with OCD and I started Prozac 10 days ago. I have struggled with intrusive taboo sexual thoughts for 12+ years (I’m 24) but now I feel like it’s turning into feelings. I’ve never done anything to anyone or nor do I wish to ever. I am just scared of my own brain if this is something I actually want. My psychiatrist said I should feel better/start getting clarity after 2 weeks. But I keep feeling worse and worse. Anyone else has experience with Prozac and how it went for them?
I am having a really hard time with ocd and anxious thoughts and feeling extremely uneasy. I'm home alone today so it's really easy for me to get stuck in my thoughts. I'm on day 4 of prozac. I felt like yesterday I had a period of time of about 30 minutes where I felt really focused and like the anxiety lifted completely. But then an obsession started and it brought me right back down. Hopefully I feel relief again today. I'm going to go get some house work done to take my mind off of things. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with prozac? How long until you felt any relief? Any really bad side effects? Any unforseen pluses? Much appreciated.
Hey everyone, I've been struggling with severe obsession over my blinking for more than a month now (&24/7), fearing I will never stop thinking about it. It came out of nowhere while I was walking (can OCD come like this without a reason ?). I'm starting to take Fluoxetine. I'm scared it won't help with the "hyperawerness". Does someone have a similar experience and can help me ?
