Why when I see triggering sexual images do I get hyperawareness to my saliva? It kept me awake pretty much all night last night with me constantly monitoring my saliva production and while I was getting intrusive thoughts I was constantly noticing everytime I involuntarily swallowed and Iāve woke up feeling so depressed thinking it means something Iām so tiredš
Hey friend, I completely understand how distressing these obsessions are. They're disturbing and unwanted, making you believe that they must mean something. That's how OCD hooks you in. Give it an inch and it'll take a mile. I've also noticed that you've been posting almost everyday and although I'm no OCD expert, it does seem to have become a compulsion. It'll only make it worse for you. Believe me, I've been there before and it's not worth your mental and emotional energy, especially when OCD has already used up so much. Sending you lots of support. @Tiny Turtle Thank you I really appreciate it, I do try not to post here so much but Iām waiting for therapy and itās taking forever, I know itās a compulsion and only makes things worse but I just get to the point of wanting to scream if I donāt get some answers or find out if anyone else has experienced what Iām experiencing:( somatic OCD and SO-OCD co occurring makes the obsessions feel so much more real, everytime I think of it my hands sweat and shake and my heart starts pounding, it gets so bad:(
@Fcukocd I'm so sorry. I know and understand how torturous it is not getting help immediately when it comes to OCD. I've been there before and it's awful. Have you tried clicking on the blue lifebuoy / life ring icon on the bottom right hand corner of your screen in this app? I've tried it a few times and it does help me to either delay or sometimes stop my posting compulsions. Perhaps you could try it out and see how it goes?

@Tiny Turtle thank you, Idk if itās reassurance or not, I just wondered if you ever experienced intrusive thoughts of oral sex? And if you ever had a struggle to get aroused by what you enjoy only to find that if you accidentally see something triggering it causes a groinal response?

@Fcukocd So sorry I missed this, it's been a rough day. I do get pretty graphic sexual intrusive thoughts but I tend to avoid them in my head (I know I shouldn't because ERP but it's difficult). As for the groinal response part, I don't understand. Could you elaborate?
@Tiny Turtle Yeah Iām the same I get really graphic ones and sometimes get groinal response to them :( The groinal response part, sorry I wasnāt very clear, I just meant, if you have a day where youāre struggling to get genuinely aroused because of anxiety, do you find that that increases the likelihood of a groinal response?
@Fcukocd Thanks for the explanation. Tbh, I don't think I know the answer to this. IMO, this seems like a compulsion. I think it might be a good idea for you to delay and not try to figure it out since it appears to feed OCD.

Hey there everyone, first I would like to say I am very grateful for every single one of you on this platform and it feels so much better knowing that I can be heard. Iāve been hyperaware of my swallowing for 1-2 month. I feel like I have so much saliva in my mouth and I have to swallow and swallow. I feel the urge to swallow even I donāt NOTHING in my mouth, so I just swallow air. This has been really overwhelming and I feel like I can be so easily latched to other body part of my part. For example, I was conscious about my blinking and breathing for a few days, and now I get so anxious when I heard a weird sound my ears make after each sentence I speak. Is this somatic ocd or health concern ocd? I am so helpless and having a hard time to shift my attention. Does anyone have any suggestions or just words of encouragement would really help me at this moment. I REALLY appreciate your help. šš Thank you !
When I woke up today I got intense feelings of arousal and urges to masturbate and thoughts of this 12 year old kid Iāve seen irl started popping up, idk why it all happened, I canāt tell if I liked it or not. Or if I wanted it or not.
iām not trying to ask for reassurance but is this ocd? Iāve had religious OCD Harlow city and pure OCD before and Iām still going through it but basically today I was putting on lipgloss and it got into my mouth and it was like a overwhelming flavor. It tasted gross and then I choked on my spit and I have a sore throat right now, but I choked on my spit and ever since that it feels like thereās so much saliva in my mouth and it feels like hard to like catch my breath like the feeling you get when youāre like, gasping for air after choking thatās kinda how Iām feeling without like the gasping part but it just feels like Iām like swallowing on command and Iāve had like breathing fixation before so I donāt know if this is just like fixating on my swallowing but itās bothering me and I donāt know if itās cause I have a sore throat but yeah basically kind of feels like Iām drowning like inside my mouth like thereās just like so much saliva in my mouth and like I have to swallow like every second and I just feel like I canāt breathe when I swallow for some reason kinda
