Maybe try to get to the root of the anxiety, what are you afraid of? Is it dying? Because I agree it’s a pretty scary thought but we’re all going to die. I think you might need to look into Exposure Response Prevention to try and tackle the anxiety and panic head on so that you can understand that you can sit in the uncertainty of life and realise that you can handle whatever life faces and that your body doesn’t need to go into full panic mode. I completely understand how you’re feeling, it’s super scary to acknowledge we might die, but after all we’re put on this earth only to live so maybe just try and get out there and do things you’ve always wanted to do/would do if you didn’t have the anxiety and just sit with those uncomfortable/panicky feelings.

I’m in the same boat as you I got a bat bite and the Rabies PEP triggering this. I had a small respiratory infection and had some SOB. It cause me to spiral thinking I’m gonna die of lung cancer. My biggest advice is avoid googling your symptoms. I use brick for blocking google and safari on my phone. That helps unfortunately with me being in Nursing school and a EMT shutting out medical info is harder but unplugging walking helps. for SOB or pain a trick I’ve learned is that anxiety pain will be nerve pain that dulls not worsens with pressure so any time you get a pain ignore it if you can’t press on it if it goes away it’s anxiety. Secondly SOB from anxiety will disappear with exercise or exertion not worsen. So working out if you can’t get SOB out of your mind is great.

@mickchicken Googling gets a lot of people honestly as I learn more about what some severe illnesses look like when they occur from my EMT and nursing experience I get less afraid as I’m ruling things out using a clinical mindset. Instead of going headache must be a brain tumor definitely not the fact I drank enough caffeine to euthanize some people and just did a night shift couldn’t be that actually must be a tumor.
