My friends think we should break up

Sounds like a very overwhelming situation. Would you say you are obsessing over what your friends think, what god thinks, or both? Whatever it is, you will never be certain. Spinning about what anyone might be thinking or feeling will never lead you to the satisfaction of certainty. Certainty doesnt actually exist with OCD, because no amount of reassurance will ever satisfy it. As far as what to do about the situation? The way we learn and grow is allowing relationships to run their natural course — not make a decision based on what others might feel. The best thing to do right now is take a deep breath and just “be.” The answer will arrive. You don’t need to make a decision right now—OCD is telling you that but it’s not real.

I don't have religion ocd, but it seems like your friend(s) are saying what they think youll want to hear for you to listen to them like, "God said you should let him go". the best thing you can do is let your friends know that the talk about religion in those contexts are triggering, and ask what they are genuinely concerned about. aside from that the only person who knows your relationship best is you, so if you know he is a healthy person to be with, and He makes you happy that is your choice to stay with him. If the relationship is unhealthy and you aren't happy anymore, I'd say end it, but not because of God or your friends, but because you want to. Im not religious but what i do know about religion is God doesn't make mistakes so whatever path you choose is the path God put you on so its important to think about what you want and what is best for you.

I want to speak to the part about your friend hearing that God said to “let him go”. I’ve been around many circles like this where it’s normal for people to say things to the extent of this. I wanna say this: if there is something God wants YOU to know, He will tell YOU. God absolutely uses other people in our lives but it’s questionable how many people are truly guided by the Spirit and how many people are guided by their own thoughts or biases but don’t realize it. This is nothing against your friend, it’s a human thing. The Bible says to test the spirit in order to know if something is truly from God. I believe that God would’ve told you, the person in the relationship, not your friend. God is very personal and intentional. We can all close our eyes and try to listen for God and fill in the blanks with whatever we want. When God speaks to us, I sincerely believe we will know because He’s God. It’s a thing to pray about nonetheless. The Bible says to seek wise counsel. Not every Christian friend or person is wise counsel. Are any of these friends in relationships that you admire or could serve as a role model? Do any of these friends have real, healthy dating experiences? Are these good, christian friends who are invested in your life and well being? Just because it’s what your friends think doesn’t always make it the truth. Only you get to make that decision because it’s your life and your relationship. It makes sense your rocd doesn’t like this. This is an opportunity to reflect instead of ruminate

I am obsessing over both what they think and what God thinks. Thinking I am missing something or they won’t approve. Okay thank you, I will try not to make a decision right now.
