Many of my posts gets no recognition as well, you aren't alone. 💜 Unfortunately it's especially on the ones where I'm in desperate pain and would appreciate the recognition, but I don't ever believe that when there's no likes/comments, it's because people don't want to listen.. we're all suffering and if one needs help we as a community try our best to make sure everyone feels seen. The AI thing is annoying as well to be honest,, but my mindset on this app is that it's more of a personal online journal for my worst/best/casual OCD/mental moments on the daily.. speaking my thoughts out on here still brings me some relief, and it'll be good if people see and if not that's also okay. Same with asking questions, I'd prefer to get responses from people here in this community, and if it takes a while I just try my best to calm myself down and maybe even go on YouTube and watch videos related to OCD or just relaxing stuff in general.
(Nontheless if you REALLY need someone to talk to, I'm here to listen. <3)
Hi “A Rat”! I’m really sorry to hear that you are going through such a tough time. I myself was diagnosed with Ocd a little over a year ago, but since then I’ve started going to therapy and I’ve also started taking medication and I can honestly say that little by little I have improved leaps and bounds since I was first diagnosed. Here is something that I wrote to someone else earlier this week on no ocd that I hope is at least somewhat relevant here: “Well, this reply may fall woefully short in terms of helping with your anxiety but I still think it might be worth a shot. So, I guess I should just tell you right out the gate that although the first few semesters of college can be pretty intimidating, scary, very difficult, or even depressing since it’s usually our first time living away from home all by ourselves with little to no adult supervision, eventually, slowly, things will get better and it will bother you less and less. As someone who has graduated from college and who is now a graduate student I feel confident in my experience enough to say that despite the uncertainty, the anxiety, and the stress that comes with living away from home for the first time and being fully responsible for your own academic performance, dorm/apartment life, getting meals, etc. if you remain open and tell yourself that you can do this then you will be able to push through and shrug off the “what if’s” that come to mind because at the end of the day all of the thoughts that we have are in our heads. Our thoughts are pretty much intangible abstract things that have no permeance on the world until we act upon them, so in that sense they are powerless until you give them power over you. I would encourage you take the power back from them, if you can. If not then that’s fine too, just know that we are never truly alone.”
Essentially, as a former undergraduate student and now as a current graduate student I just want to let you know that it’s very common to feel pretty lonely in college, even if you are living on campus. Dorm life wasn’t always the best either, to be honest it kind of stunk at times, but ultimately I’m glad that I moved away from home because it was a valuable experience to live away from home. Although, if I could do it all over again I would personally have just got an apartment with someone because I didn’t realize how much I valued privacy until I was living in a single room dorm room with a roommate. Regardless, as I said at the end of the previous post you are never truly alone in this world and if you need to talk to someone then I would encourage you to reach out to a loved one, a friend, a school counselor, or if you want to you can keep on posting here 👍🏻🙂
Also, as a side note, I also just want to say that I like your no ocd username 😄
I totally understand you, I feel like a lot of people avoid posts with triggers.
