I had ocd all my life and I’ve been seeing psychologist and they NEVER seen what I had. It’s me , one day, that saw a video on YouTube and seen that it was what I had. Sometimes , you have to tell to people what you think you have to make them realise that it’s what you got, cuz there is so many mental health that exist that he just didn’t think about ocd

i appreciate you saying that because it makes me feel not alone. i hate that people only think ocd is washing your hands over and over when there is a completely different section that they’re missing.

Also trust me if you had said to them what you said here about not being sure if you have OCD about killing people or really want to kill people because the thoughts won't go away and it makes you feel like a terrible person, he would 100% have diagnosed you with OCD anyway. Because it's what you have. It doesn't matter that you didn't say it because you feared being misunderstood or would have felt like a liar because of the OCD-guilt about the thoughts. The reality is still that your symptoms and experience are very clearly OCD. Your psychiatrist doesn't need to know every detail about what happens in your head or that you still have so many OCD symptoms in order to make a valid diagnosis of it. I hope that the formal diagnosis enables you to access OCD therapy with a well trained practitioner now.

The world needs people who are informed about their own conditions. There is a lot of overlap between conditions and it's understandable that some clinicians might not spot the signs of OCD. You're not being manipulative by advocating for yourself.
