Hello How does anyone deal with family members that know you struggle with real event pocd and they treat you horrible for what you did? I have to always excuse myself when something is said or a stare to see if I’m okay around kids. It’s a horrible feeling because it makes me think I will be alone foreverrrrrr and a pedo. I would appreciate any tips.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that and others aren’t supportive. It’s hard to understand something they don’t deal with. I wish I had tips for you but in all honesty some people don’t understand. If possible maybe send them some articles/literature on REOCD/POCD and see if they can maybe be open minded to your experience and understand that’s not who you are. Some people just may not understand it

It’s very hard in my situation. I’m stuck and I feel like I shouldn’t even be worried about because it includes one of my family members. I really don’t know what to do once we have a family event.

@rosie240 I totally understand. You mentioned below you were a child when this happened? Children do a lot of weird sexual stuff because they don’t know any better. I wouldn’t hold something you did as a kid against yourself too much because you don’t even know what you’re doing is wrong necessarily!
