Oh wow, I went through the exact same stuff about fashion/appearance when HOCD was my theme. Something that helped me a lot was encountering youtubers/celebrities/women I know in real life who dress androgynously or have short hair or other stereotypical markers of queerness who are actually straight. You are so not alone. ?

Thank you so much❤️ I just feel like I can’t do ANYTHING anymore and I will somehow call it gay even though I dress like every other basic girl my age I don’t understand.

hello there. i just wanted to say that i’ve experienced these fashion triggers as well ??♀️ they were brought on when i was with my friend who is LBGT & they said a girl was checking me out. i didn’t even notice there was a girl around....but my mind automatically gravitated to my outfit & i didn’t want to wear it anymore. also have something that if i experience an hocd intrusive thought in certain clothes, i feel like i have to change. i’m sorry that i can’t offer much guidance, but you’re not alone ? cheering for ur progress

Yes thank you that really helps me ❤️ it’s weird because I’ve never gravitated towards the style that is often stereotyped with LGBT girls my age, and I’ve always been more of a basic brandy, urban outfitters girl like EVERY OTHER GIRL IN MY GRADE but I can just say “that’s gay change” and I’ll do it. I’m proud of myself thought because I am still wearing the shirt i said I was going to take off this morning. I felt it was getting way too far considering this is a plain colored long sleeve I’m wearing and now I’m just going to refuse to take it off and I’m happy I’m keeping it on ? so that’s a start i guess

Ocd attacks the things that are valuable to us. For you and I, fashion and expressing ourselves in that way seems to be valuable, so of course OCD will attack it! I’m sorry you’re experiencing all that, though. It’s doesn’t help when the people around us don’t realize they’re buying into stereotypes themselves (of what a gay person looks or dresses like).

Exactly. It’s very convenient that when I start to shop for myself, my OCD decides its a good idea to make me thing everything is off limits. Thank you for your help ❤️
