I have dermatillomania. It can be really difficult, I haven’t gotten to a point where I never do it, but it helps to keep my hands busy. I fiddle with things, play with small hand toys or silly putty, work on puzzles, wear gloves, put lotion on, paint my nails... work on crafts. Keeping busy is the most helpful thing I’ve done for this.

I have dermatillomania too and I wrote a note on a piece of paper reminding me not to pick and my face, and taped it to my mirror. I don't have it very severe but sometimes I don't even realize I'm picking at my face. It's a hard thing to stop but keep working on it. ?

I have severe dermatillomania and mild trichotillomania. I’ve found fidgets and tape helpful. When I was at residential I also worked on a lot of habit reversal training and competing response which was helpful as well

I haven't been to the doctor for it. But I have dermatillomania for sure, since my teenage years and I'm now 45. I get hormonal acne and just can't leave it alone. Have constant wounds on the face. Am ashamed and try to cover them with makeup. Have tried wearing cotton gloves, I keep my nails as short as possible, playing with a stressball... you name it. Stress is a huge factor for me. And I'm stressed all the time. Going to try meditation and breathing exercises. If that don't work, I'm at a loss.
