My thoughts are statements too. You got this! Just try to calm down a little, you seem in recovering already! Its normal during erp to have more thoughts and more scary. You have to keep going. I reccomend ali greymond on youtube. The has a video meant to be played when you have an ocd attack.

Thank you; I’ve been watching callingjesse because he really puts everything into perspective. It’s just that this particular thought seemed to confirm what I didn’t want to be confirmed and I was stressed because everybody always talks about the “what if,” intrusive thoughts and not the “I am,” and the “I must be” intrusive thoughts.

@StraightButScared I totally understand your concern. It took a while until i found out that ocd thoughts can come in different ways. Hope you get better.

Yes. My intrusive thoughts have been not only what if I am a ? But in all other forms a thought can take. I think if it can be a thought, it can be an intrusive thought

One weird one I have because I have pocd is when I am scared I’m attracted to someone I feel the thought “yes” its an incredibly disturbing intrusive thought

Yes, I get confirmation thoughts to put with my HOCD. For example, I may think someone’s pretty and then I may start to worry because I think that it’s attraction. Then I’ll get a thought like “you always think they’re pretty when they have that haircut or when they dress like that so that must be your type.” In reality, I just want to look like them, dress like them and be like them but my mind tells me otherwise. I also avoid rainbows and wearing all of the colours I’d the bi flag because I think that people will assume my identity (an identity that isn’t mine). The thought I got a couple of days ago really messed me up (the one asking me whether I’d come out) because I’ve been watching a lot of TikToks claiming that angels are trying to communicate with me. I’ve also experienced a lot of deja vu and so I thought that this question was confirming everything that I didn’t want.

You mentioned that you sit with your discomfort and refuse to do your compulsions in some ways, that is great! On the other hand, it seems like you were very triggered by a thought, but OCD demanded you to seek reassurance by asking us if that thought is normal, ask your mom, analyze yourself past crush thoughts, google, and more. This explains why your anxiety feels so high & your thoughts feel very real because the OCD cycle was fed. (Not your fault, we all do it!) the only way you will get better is by having that first intrusive thought (I am ____worst fear) and then exposing yourself to it by either saying a. YEP, definitely brain, thanks! or something like b.maybe I am or maybe I’m not, oh well going to continue x(insert whatever you’re doing in the moment) instead of saying “oh no what if I’m the only person who’s had that thought, let me google and ask my mom etc.” those things will give you relief short term but will only lead to more confusion and distress long term. The ONLY way to get over hocd is by not feeding the monster. It’s going to be REALLY hard, but you can do it!
