Hi Newstage, I would disagree with scoggy. Remember, you get to decide your actions. Porn has been studied to be addictive, and the dopamine kick from masurbation is extremely addictive as well. If you feel the need to overcome this behavior, continue to strive towards that. From personal experience, my OCD actually SPIKED a lot when I gave up porn and masturbation. Of course all the thoughts came with it - Moral Scrupulosity, HOCD, POCD, ROCD, etc... For me, quitting actually brought about a lot of thoughts that I had to overcome. It sounds like when you are feeling anxious, you feel the need to watch porn. That is not uncommon, as there is a certain “high” you get from watching it. In a sense, the porn is making your anxiety decrease, which can actually be been as a compulsive behavior. I would please seek help from a counselor on this. While we do not have perfectly moral thoughts all the time, we do decide our actions. From personal experience, quitting porn is hard work, but you can do it if you set your mind to it! I think there is this fear that by not watching porn, you are avoiding something and you will fall into Moral Scrupulosity. There is a difference between avoiding thinking about sex, confessing 100 times and convincing yourself you will not go to hell (OCD) and acting in accordance with your beliefs, which is healthy. If you are wanting to quit porn AND battle OCD, those are two very hard battles. I know from personal experience. I have been porn free for just over a year now and fighting my OCD for about 8 months, and I think both decisions were the best I could have done. I admit that porn was wrong, and I should not have done it, but I also do not engage in OCD behaviors that ask why I did it or ruminate on the possibilities of what might happen because of it. Seek help from a professional if you can, and remember, you are not alone! Acknowledge your thoughts, Accept them for being there, Allow them to come and go as they please, and ACT in a way that is in line with your values. I recommend strive21.com and covenant eyes - which is software that has really helped in my battle against pornography addiction.

@Newstage You mentioned that you feel tremendous guilt when you relapse by consuming porn. For you, that guilt is coming from realising that you want to be pure in your actions, thoughts and behaviours. Once you get to the point where you can't control your thoughts (overwhelmed with worries as a result of anxiety), your brain thinks that porn can be relief. Now, I'm interested if you tried doing something else than watching porn to relief yourself from uncomfortable feelings?

@NinoWinner Yes. Playing games, using a nebulizer for the sound and respiration, sleeping and pills for the thoughts

AND..... porn/masturbation is not immoral, unhealthy or unacceptable. It's not a mistake, a sin or a flaw. Obeying your intrusive self-judging thoughts about it is a surefire way to make your OCD worse over all.

Try the basic steps, sleep earlier and keep yourself busy with something else try not to sit alone a lot and delete any source you can watch porn from. I also heard that over eating triggers your need to watch.
