If we keep thinking the disturbing thought is the problem, we can never recover. We must go beyond the thought, and realize ocd is using an intense emotion or sensation (guilt, disgust, pain, panic, etc) to keep us captive in the ocd cycle. But we can learn to sit with the anxiety, to realize we can handle it, and that an emotion, no matter how painful, is just an emotion. That is what helped me recover, we are all with you and beside you in this journey.

Thank you, do you suffer from pocd too? And if so are you a mom? I always wonder how pocd sufferers deal with becoming parents.

@mmartinez015 This is a scary thought sometimes, but pocd, socd, hocd, etc. It is all ocd. And thinking that pocd should be handled differently than any other ocd hurts your recovery. Ocd is ocd and it is all handled and treated exactly the same. Even though that is a scary thought, sit with the fear and accept it, dont try to get rid of it, learn you can handle all emotions, even debilitating anxiety and very painful painful emotions. All can be experienced :)

@mmartinez015 I’m a mom with the same subtype of OCD at first it was scary, weird and just debilitating. I avoided being around them and nurturing them. I actually sent them away for awhile but when I read and heard several types that OCD attacks what we want or love the most giving us the opposite of what we consider ourselves to be. I’ve only been with men my whole life. I’m married for 9 years and have three wonderful children. This all started in the pandemic for me. We’re all here for you, we’ll get through this.

Thank you! I’ve been dealing with this for a while now... I’m 22 now and I’ve been dealing with hocd since I was in the 8th grade going into 9th. And then pocd in the middle of 12th grade.

You are probably a loving and kind person who will be able to give so much love to a child. No worries just trust the process.

Thank you, I’ve gone to therapy but I think I’ll need to go back soon. I always worry that I’m a special case that won’t be able to ever get rid of ocd

@mmartinez015 I still doubt whether it is ocd or not. And I always wonder if I was misdiagnosed and that I may have more disorders. Idk my brain is all a mess

@mmartinez015 That’s what OCD wants you to think. You can do this!
