OCD is war. A war that we will win together. It is possible believe me I've manage to calm it down alot recently.

Your post reminds me of the quote "learn to rest, not to quit". It's ok if you don't have hope for yourself right now. Other people can hold hope for you until you can rekindle your own.

:/ sorry to hear. Do you need someone to chat with? Are you safe right now? (My offer to chat still stands either way).

It’s ok, I wouldn’t offer if it was a bother. But I also get not wanting to chat about stuff. Take care of yourself. 🙂

Thank you so much I just need a break and I don’t know I’m going to be able to get it I’m really tired I getting Theraphy every week an don’t get me wrong my therapist it’s one of the best but I don’t think I can be help in a lost cause 😢

Personally, I don’t beleive there’s such thing as a lost cause, but mental illness does try to convince us that things will never get better. What if you acted like you believed things could get better, even when you don’t believe it yet? Because (and I got this advice from Katie the advocate so I can’t take credit for it) we change thoughts by changing actions. What are some things someone who believes whole heartedly they can recover might do differently than you’re doing now?

To be honest I trying so hard but I like I told you before I’m really tired I’m been dealing with at lot sin childhood I want a change but I don’t know where to start

Yeah. I hear you. It can be really tiring to deal with mental illness. Some of what helped me most when I was down was a few lifestyle changes along with erp. I fixed my sleep schedule, I stopped taking so many classes. I worked on my self esteem a bit too.

Ok cool, I can do that. I’ve definitely had that “I’m so exhausted I don’t know what to do anymore,” feeling. It’s rough. I think what helped me most was learning where I could set boundaries in my life so I had more time to focus myself, and letting myself take a break every now and again.

You know my whole life I been around toxic people and people take advantage of me because I don’t like make people bad like for example I been dealing with my mental health my whole life and one of my sister knows how I can’t for for some reason say no to her and I find myself getting hurt by her all the time

That sounds really tough. Have you tried working on assertiveness before? If so what have you tried?

Not really my psychiatrist recommended ERP but I haven’t look in to it

I’d definitely second that suggestion, erp is the best way to treat ocd. I’ve got a few links about it. https://iocdf.org/about-ocd/ocd-treatment/erp/ https://www.treatmyocd.com/blog/what-exactly-is-exposure-and-response-prevention-erp/ It’s recommended you do erp with a therapist, but there’s lots of resources for doing self-erp while you wait to get a therapist. This app is a pretty good place to ask questions about erp, if you have any.

@Nikki1809 Some ocd self help books: https://iocdf.org/books/ And here is a pdf if you need it: https://www.pdfdrive.com/the-ocd-workbook-your-guide-to-breaking-free-from-obsessive-compulsive-disorder-e157834125.html I might suggest that in addition to doing erp you find ways to build self esteem and work on assertiveness. Would you be able to get a therapist to do erp with or do erp with your psychiatrist?

No I have to look for another therapist that can do ERP my it’s certified for it
