I'm having a annoying time with one of my obsessions as it deals with race. I'm thinking that a certain race is bad because of the history associated with them. It's just intrusive thoughts mostly.

Yeah it's like I like this white guy and he likes me but I keep thinking that because hes white and white people owned slaves it's wrong. But then I'm realizing black people owned slaves too

@kinabinna Thoughts are harmless and they aren’t always right. Remind yourself that you should focus on who he is in the present and does he treat you the way you deserve

@kinabinna Yes! I get that, I’m BIPOC & sometimes I have intrusive thoughts about white people being bad because of the harm they have caused & I’m like is this a racist thought?

@Rolyat What do you mean bipoc???sorry I didnt know what that stood for lol and yeah same but for me its intrusive. Its unfortunate there's a guy that likes me but because hes white I'm associating it with bad smh.

@kinabinna Black & indigenous people of color hahah. No worries, I’m bi racial. Half black half white, so half my families white the other half is black. And sometimes I get afraid of white peoples intentions

@Rolyat Lol yeah I think when it's a black girl and a white guy theres more comments. The thing is I'm bringing it back to the slavery days but I think its because of the ocd because I wasnt doing that before

@kinabinna I'm in the u.s hbu and I heard there are alot of interracial couples in the u.k that not many people even pay attention to race. Yeah the news is bad now

@kinabinna Yeah this whole civil rights movement is necessary but hard psychologically. I’m also in the us. I live in manhattan

@Rolyat Yeah I remember someone saying that just because whites enslaved blacks years ago doesnt mean it should be every white person even today to blame lol.

@kinabinna I mean yes, but it’s also important for white peoples to take accountability for the harm their ancestors caused and for the privilege they inherently have now becaise they built a hierarchy which benefits them & oppresses others..

@kinabinna & find a way to break down those systems. & make them more equitable for everyone.

@Rolyat Right I do see what your saying but I dont think it's fair for me to say every white person is bad because of it and thats what my ocd is doing in a way

@kinabinna No. Not every white person is bad! Most white people are good, there is good & bad people of all races & cultures.

@kinabinna & yes my ocd can get carried away with that too, like I stop trusting white people & I’m afraid of them and think they have an ulterior motive . But then I have to remind myself that my mom is white, i have a lot of white friends & family & not every white person is bad. Some are very racist. But that’s not the majority. However the majority DO benefit from the privilege their whiteness gives them.

@Rolyat Yeah I get what your saying I think it's the ocd on why I'm bringing slavery into it. Because slavery ended over 200 years ago if were honest lol. When your biracial it can be difficult I bet.

@kinabinna I mean yeah slavery ended but it’s affects are still relevant to this day.

@Rolyat Yeah I get what your saying but it's also important to know that their were other slave owners who were other nationalities not just white. I think a lot of people dont really know that lol. It's just on tv it's always shown as being a black and white thing unfortunately.
