I'm trying my hardest to resist ruminating. We're in this together. As a team. You got this

Thank you! I hope it goes well for you too :)

Just think about how you can't control who you fall in love with/who are attracted to. So it's normal to go through periods when you aren't attracted to anyone. Your ocd will try to use it against you, but just try to sit with the fact that you don't have control over this. You'll feel very anxious at the beginning, but it's part of the process :)

Isn't that what hurts people with OCD? Feeling like they don't have control?

@BigGip09 Yes, but that's the point. We don't have control. I feel anxious even typing this, but we can't control those things. But when you go to therapy that's what your therapist focuses on. You have to be okay with uncertainty and not being in control and that's the hardest part, but it's also the only thing that can give you piece. I mean it would be great if we were in control of all these things, but until science doesn't come up with that option, we'll have to work with it😀

@notfortalk Ha. Until science. That did make me chuckle a little. A part of me knows that not ruminating about the past all the time would give me peace and I would feel more free because by then I'd be okay with uncertainty but it's on and off really.

@BigGip09 Oh yes, I totally relate. I know that not ruminating and not giving into anxiety will make me feel better. But anxiety will always act as if it's bigger then you and win. So as you said, it comes in waves. But again, recovery is not linear. There are ups and downs, what's truly matters is the end result

@notfortalk Definitely. Second guessing everything I did in the past when I was different from who I am now or the grey areas with mistakes I could have made. Not having to think about them I feel would be much better than trying to find that number one answer. But yeah, like we both agree on. It's on and off when it comes to how effective it can be
