I realized that religion, God, is the biggest uncertainty there is!! What a perfect theme for OCD to stick its fangs into

That’s so true! There is no way to know 100% and ocd loves that

@violet444 Have you brought up what you wrote to your therapist? Cos he or she will be able to guide you with how to tackle it =) Baby steps first 💕

@ButterflyStar She doesn’t say anything helpful. That’s why I am asking here

@violet444 What does she say? Does she work with OCD before? Yes it is very common a d exactly what I did for aboit a whole year my first year of ocd. It was highly distressing. Infact I had a complete mental breakdown.. But like all OCD, things CAN get better!!

@ButterflyStar I don’t even know. She seemed annoyed by me talking about it. I haven’t brought it up with her for a while because I have other themes and this one was at the background for a while

@violet444 Do you think she was annoyed? Or could it have been your imagination? Some therapists are probably more adept at dealing with different subtypes than others...

@Anonymous That’s a good question. Maybe she wasn’t annoyed

It does appear to be normal. In the Excersizes section of the NOCD app, if you choose a religious obsession and look at the triggers, doubting your faith is an option. Has your therapist talked about the Excersizes section yet?

Yes but I have a bunch of other themes too and haven’t done the religious/spiritual erp yet. I will try it.

@violet444 You should definitely get around to it when you can. And I don't think it will ruin you're connection with God, but maybe strengthen it. When doing ERP, my therapist said to make sure you specify that the obsession MIGHT happen, not that it probably will. Plus, God knows your intentions, so He won't be mad at you if that's what you're thinking.

I’m the same way!! I’m constantly questioning is there a God then I say no I feel that there is a God and I believe in Jesus then I say ugh but the Bible is that real?? Then I’m like ugh no it has to be real, than in like oh man I’m so scared to learn about false teachings and then I’m like what If I can’t tell what’s false ? Or what If I think it’s all false? Mind you this is all happening with anxiety on full volume! And then I’m like I don’t want to give Satan so much credit and then I’m like oh Satan controls everything in this world! And then I just pray to God pray to help me with my faith.. ugh it’s all so exhausting

I guess I would add the question of if I am really losing my faith or if it’s just ocd. Thank you!

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for dealing with religious OCD. I'm a Christian and I struggle with Harm OCD but then somehow, my religious beliefs got mixed into this where I am suddenly asking all these questions on whether God/Jesus is even good. And as a result, I feel so distant from my faith which makes dealing with my harm OCD so much harder 😢 Any advice would be appreciated.

Can anyone share their experiences with Religious OCD and how you came to realize it was OCD thoughts and not a true spiritual experience. Thank you

Hi! I have been struggling with ocd for many years of my life, however, I have recently been struggling with religious ocd. Currently my ocd has been putting thought into my mind like, “you shouldn’t go to that party, because “God” doesn’t what you to” or “don’t do this or else it’s going to make “God” mad.” These thoughts have been overall causing me so much anxiety, and truly I don’t know what to do. I’ve been struggling to identify it’s actually Gods voice or not. Also, my ocd has been also making my prayer a very stressful part of my day, which is not how it should feel at all. Now finding peace in prayer feels more like a chore, than a conversation. Does anybody else have ocd like this? If so, any tips?
