I'm also a sufferer of POCD, so I know just how debilitating it can be! I know you're scared, but you should be proud of yourself--by downloading this app and setting up a therapy appointment, you've taken a huge first step in overcoming this! While I'm not supposed to reassure you, as compulsive reassurance is counter-productive, I think it's important to tell you the facts, and people with pedophile OCD are often the *least* likely to actually harm a child. OCD plays off what we fear most, so if you're someone who thinks molestation is abhorrent and thinks children are precious and should be protected, your OCD is going to send danger signals because it interprets an intrusive thought about a child as a threat to your moral character. But the important thing to remember is this: 1) Your OCD is not you, and 2) thoughts that pass through our head aren't always in our control. I think you're doing the right thing by seeking help, and while I know you're scared, I'm excited for you--this is the beginning of you turning your life around!

Thanks Aaron. Your words are so great to hear. I'm trying to stay proud of myself. I'm sorry your struggling too. My OCD has centred itself around false attraction gronial response, I don't even have intrusive thoughts and haven't for years. I guess I think I might be a pedo which is a intrusive thought, but it's pretty understandable to think that if you keep getting gronial response. That's why I'm so scared. I don't even think I would get treatment but I also have been getting gronial response and fear of attraction to family members. So I guess it must all be connected. Anyway I feel like I'm just looking for reassurance here. Something I know I'm not goib to get when I start therapy... So I might aswell start now by saying that what if my gronial response means I'm attracted to minors, I don't care. I love myself regardless. Ew. That feels weird. Anyway Aaron thanks so much for your kind thoughts. Its really nice to hear from other sufferers. I appreciate you, your Valid and worthy. X

Here's a link to a helpful resource on groinal response that may be useful to you: https://ocdlife.ca/what-is-groinal-response/#:~:text=Groinal%20response%20is%20the%20term%20given%20to%20sensations,itself%20but%20it%20is%20a%20one-way%20symbiotic%20obsession. My therapist sent this to me when I needed it. I would advise you to use it (i.e., read it to educate yourself on what is actually going on, which may give you a little bit of relief), but don't abuse it (i.e., compulsively reading it over and over for reassurance; try to let it be a one-and-done thing). You're absolutely welcome, and thank you for your kind words in return. I've been struggling with OCD for about six years now, so basically as long as you have, and it's not fun--in fact, it makes life absolute Hell. But if I can take what I've learned and use it to help others...well, that makes it all worth it. :) I believe I'm going to get better, and I believe in you, too!
