Oh yes. I’ve had high anxiety for weeks on end. I just had one last night and I’m still upset about it. Do you want to talk?

Yes I do need someone to talk to. The subject is a little personal (it has to do with something NSFW) though, i don't know if you're willing to talk about something like that

@RaeStruggles Okay thank you. The thing that won't stop giving me anxiety is about something that happened last week. I was having some "me time" if you know what I mean. I'm feeling anxious because I'm not sure if my sister heard me only because she tried opening my door right after I was done. The door was locked of course, but I heard the door knob turn. I know if she did hear, it was an accident & things like this happen with roommates all the time. What's getting to me is the thoughts & guilt won't go away, & in the past my OCD has been the root cause of the repetitive thoughts. It cost me a night of sleep. Now my mind won't stop racing about other things (like school, I'm a university student.)

Yes I’ve been like that for over a year now

I understand. Sounds like you took your “me time” in private and yes roommates do hear things but most people understand not to judge or feel awkward should they hear anything. It really sounds like to me your OCD is trying to make you feel worse about this than you actually should. I know we’re not supposed to do reassurance but seriously you’re not a bad person for taking some time for yourself (even in that scenario). With that said and I know it’s really hard but now recognizing the OCD thought and doing your recovery work is the next best step. Are you having a lot of stress with school?

Thank you so much for your input. I really appreciate it. And yes, school is stressing me out a bit because I find it hard to focus at home a lot of the time. I'm retaking this one research class that I need to graduate, which makes me anxious. I find myself stressing about the workload too. Idk why everything is hitting me today mentally :(

@JLA I hope it helps ❤️ it’s okay to retake classes. I had to, and still graduated with good grades! That’s awesome you’re doing research! You got a lot going on and it is mentally draining. Having OCD alone is mentally draining but I want to encourage you to not get discouraged over retaking a class or struggling with OCD. You are going to do great in school and focusing on your recovery will help!

All. The. Time. Just keep reminding yourself that OCD is going to sound exactly like that. I have to remind myself that “this is a characteristic of OCD. It sucks right now. I CAN (will) get through it”.

I have to be careful with the way I remind myself too sometimes. That's the tricky part of OCD. You can't even confort yourself too much or else it turns into a reassurance. BUT WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS. :)

I hear that!! It’s so tricky. I hope you can keep pushing through it, staying connected to your values and your reason to override its demands!
