Personally those seem like very simple things to solve and it would be easier to just solve them. You can do a quick google on how to get a new passport. Which is super super easy. And make a list of who needs to know your new address then send it to everyone. Then all the stress is done and over with. Getting off social media would probably also help while moving

Thanks for responding! You're right, those things are not very hard to do, I often catch myself obsessing about the process on how to do it instead of simply doing it or making a timetable for when I am going to do it. And what often keeps me trapped is thinking about all these little things at once instead of just doing them step by step. But you're right I think I am going to make a little list where I write down my to dos and the steps I need to take. It's also a good activity to do instead of ruminating or lingering on the internet until I come upon triggering content 😅🤦♀️

@Shoeshifter Yeah it would be much more productive for you and release the anxiety faster if you just started what you need to do or make a list if those 2 things are overwhelming to you

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that I totally relate. In stressful periods I often catch myself ruminating about stupid everyday stuff and all the to does I have to face instead of actually doing them. I guess that‘s just how our ocd brains work. Maybe writing a list Would be helpful for you and sticking to a routine is also something I find helpful especially when a lot of things are changing. Also I wanted to let you know that ocd trying to step in when things get stressful is soo common so be extra gentle to yourself. Good luck for everything you‘re doing great <3

Thank you so much 💖 yes it's no surprise to me why this is happening right now. It helps to know where it is coming from, even though it is still uncomfortable. Like you are already stressed, why does your brain think you need to obsess about the easiest tasks now or about stuff you can do after the move is over 😅 but I noticed that while I get spikes that feel very strong and scary in the moment the anxiety passes much more quickly than it used to before, after an hour or so, which is probably a good sign that what I practiced over the last year is still working. But then OCD tries to latch onto the next thing so I need to watch out for the next few days/weeks.

@Shoeshifter I‘m always so amazed by how similar we all are, it‘s like we all share the same messed up brain 😂 I think that the anxiety passes quickly is a sign that you‘re doing better and making progress! Also you‘re being very self-reflective on your compulsions and behavior, keep doing the work and try to apply what you‘ve learned. Maybe seeing this as an opportunity to learn more and improve your skills for dealing with ocd is also a good way to cope when you’re feeling uncomfortable.
