i think you’re on the road to recovery now! :)

Hopefully! Is it normal for triggers to start getting easier do you think? (probably a stupid question but my mind is so fuzzy with it haha!)

@MelodyOCD as you go along your erp, your anxiety should lessen

@nikkii Thank you! I can feel it lessening already, just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly!

@nikkii Its actually one of the things that hinder me. I get triggered by not being triggered thus creating more anxiety

Exposures don’t always have to trigger us and spike anxiety! Not all of them will anyway, as long as we do the exposure and do the thing we are so afraid of instead of avoiding or fighting it then we are making progress.

Thank you for your reply this was really helpful!! It’s weird I do want to not feel triggered but when I don’t I panic about it hahah 😂

@MelodyOCD I used to do the same! I felt I wasn’t getting triggered when doing exposures so felt at a loss! But I still did them and then eventually moved up as well to bigger ones that wouldn’t eventually give me a bit more anxiety! I still get more triggered in the moment than doing planned exposures but it’s best to not avoid and do it anyway!

@Corie Yes I tried to explain this to my therapist too! During exposures I’ve kinda hyped myself up to be scared, and it’s usually not that bad, but going about my everyday like where I’ve not prepared myself it’s so much worse, I get quite triggered then! So glad to hear you’re doing so well, I love recovery stories :)

@MelodyOCD I definitely still have my days, I get triggered and fall into compulsions but definitely better than when this started!

@Corie Awh glad to hear still! My compulsions have cut down to just asking for reassurance, ruminating, And checking, I can stop myself from googling but can’t seem to stop checking how other people are reacting to things I’ve that makes sense haha!

@MelodyOCD Right! I cut out googling and most avoidance, not it’s mainly ruminating and reassurance whether I’m reassuring myself or on here somehow wanting to know if others thoughts are the same or so

@Corie Yup I’m exactly the same haha! This app has become a slight compulsion for me unfortunately:S

I’ve been having good days since starting erp aswell so now I’m really scared that it isn’t ocd :(

@MelodyOCD This has happened to me many times. Once ERP starts getting easy, my mind tries to jump on me not having anxiety as a way to trigger me. Try to accept those thoughts and move on. You dont want to give yourself a backdoor spike.

@MelodyOCD I had a therapist before I had the one I have right now and she made me feel much better she just didn’t do erp so I started doing it myself and now I feel a lot better but I’d like to maintain and now I’m worried they might think I don’t have ocd
