i know but how do i know where to draw the line of being open and vulnerable to my partner to it crossing to be confession compulsion. like how do i let him know how BAD ocd is and how sometimes it revolves around him or his family and i dont want it to but i can't control it. like i want it to cross his mind and him think of the worst thing i can think of so once he knows that and he still wants to be with me, i am reassured he accepts me no matter how bad my ocd is.

@rosecoloredgirl Of course you can speak to your partner about your ocd and how it affects you. You can be honest about your themes if you want to if not then just explain what ocd is and how it affects you. It becomes a compulsion when you start to confess these thoughts to people in hopes that they will give you reassurance.

@Anonymous Also letting your boyfriend in on what’s happening could benefit you. By explaining to him he can pick up on your compulsions and when you’re seeking reassurance. Him knowing will help your recovery. Because then he won’t give you the reassurance you’re looking for and ultimately that will help you in the long run.

@Anonymous I want to be honest with my themes because I want him to know how ugly it can get and how literally anyone can get involved in this but I also don't want to because I'm embarrassed and scared he'll judge me for it or be mad that it involved his family

You shouldn’t feel like you’ve done anything wrong by having ocd, these intrusive thoughts aren’t your fault. If you’re being a loving supportive partner, I’d hope that they would do the same.
