Psychiatrist arent ocd specialist so he might not understand so be very aware that could be triggering to you

Exactly. Psychiatrist is really only going to help you with managing medication.

@amahimda781 Yep! They practically didn’t even listen to anything I said just if the medication was workin or not

@amahimda781 They diagnose you as well. I am going to get a diagnosis. After that, usually the patient is treated by other specialist and psychiatrist only prescribes meds

But I agree with you on that. They might not understand. But in Ukraine, you cannot go straight to OCD specialist. At first, the psychiatrist is diagnosing you

@Daria Alexandrovna I saw specialist for months before going to a psychiatrist. I already had my diagnosis from someone who knew what they were talking about before seeing the psychiatrist and she was able to Decide if she agreed or not. No OCD questionnaire, just basic overview and quick diagnosis.

@Justmesadly They said that they also have a clinic psychologist. Maybe if something doesn't work out they'll have a listen to help diagnose me, idk

@Justmesadly I really don't know, maybe it works different here and there, you know? I called to a clinic, they said that the first session is for diagnosis and the decision on the treatment, and you are listened to by a psychiatrist and maybe a clinical psychologist if they decide that you need him

@Justmesadly The man on the phone told me 'Yeah, you'll talk to him but incase your OCD is somehow connected with other illnesses then the clinic. psychologist is going to talk to you'

@Daria Alexandrovna Yeah of course, treatment and doctors are so different everywhere. I just want you to be aware they could misdiagnose you, so if they say you don’t have OCD I don’t want you to go spiraling bc they could be right but they could be wrong unless they are a specialist!

@Justmesadly Interesting. Well then I'll try talking to both of them and hopefully one of them listenes to me. It hurts to think like that and not trusting the doctors

@Justmesadly Yes, you are right. Thank you. I've been to a psychiatrist before, free session. She listened to me for 10 min and told me I was just anxious. Prescribed me wrong medication, which only helped with my sleep. So I am sadly aware :(

@Daria Alexandrovna Yeah 10 minutes isn’t really enough time to know much because like 5 different Illness all look and seen the same. There’s tiny differences that changes your diagnosis

@Justmesadly She didn't even ask for the details :(

I think he should understand what's happening to you because he's a specialist, but i understand why you might be worried. Try to give him some examples of moments when your obsessions have occurred, describe your emotions and mental compulsions (if you have them). Maybe tell him how you've come to the conclusion that you have ocd. Also don't be afraid to go to another specialist if this one doesn't give you a diagnosis or closure. Hope this helps ♥️.

I am a bit afraid to tell him that I suspect having OCD, everyone tells me to just tell about my worries and he should figure it out. I'm worried as I have had a negative experience before and also Pure O isn't commonly recognized in Ukraine, sadly...

@Daria Alexandrovna I live in russia and i understand how specialists can sometimes mistreat patients. I advice you to push on what you believe is right, don't let anyone tell you that your feelings are not valid. Your mental health Is important :).
