I have TOCD as well. I have really been struggling with it lately. I am not currently in exposure therapy but I am in regular therapy and I’ve done a gender support group in the past. Usually I start to feel it when I watch tv and I see a guy and get jealous of the way his shirt lays on his chest or when a character goes through a rough patch and grows out a beard. But part of the problem is that I don’t feel like I identity internally as a guy, but I do have some dysphoria I guess. But then sometimes I feel really good with my femininity including my body. Best I can tell this puts me somewhere in the gender fluid area, but I have so much anxiety around it that I just feel like I’ll never feel sure and never be comfortable. Hopefully this helps. I’m happy to discuss further here or on social media. Lmk. Thanks!

Hi! This is really interesting and insightful, thank you for sharing! I’m a cis woman, 26, and I had a concussion last year. Ever since then, OCD has made me question every aspect of myself, including my gender. I feel sad in my current body and even more sad thinking about being a man, so I guess I don’t have gender dysphoria, more lack complete lack of gender euphoria. I used to have major gender euphoria being a woman, I loved every aspect of my femininity. Questioning my identity has made me panicked and suicidal. It’s lasted for about seven months now. I have never heard of a gender support group, can you tell me more about it?

@Scooterino hey! i’m currently worrying about this theme and i have for super long. i completely relate with the lack of gender euphoria bit. there are times i feel super uncomfy with being female or at least just insecurity with myself but i really don’t feel like a trans man or anything like that either. it’s so tough. it’s like ocd is combined with actual gender issues and it’s miserable :/

Sure! I was looking for resources in my area and I found out about a place near me online. I think it was a “process” group which meant it was facilitated by a therapist. Mostly we would share what was on our mind that week and offer feedback and support. It was for a limited time, I think 3 months and I found a really good friend in it and it was helpful to work through some of my internalized transphobia and know I wasn’t alone. And I definitely understand where you are coming from. The thing that sucks about OCD is that it makes you feel like you have to have the answer but the more you think about it the more confused/frustrated/depressed you get. In addition to therapy and ERP I would recommend looking into the Claire Weekes method which has also helped me a lot.

Mine? I’m afraid not. It’s a childhood nickname. 😊
