I got off birth control all together because I swear it was making my OCD a thousand times worse. Sure enough my OCD lessened up quite a bit. We decided to go ahead and get pregnant again though and boy pregnancy has made it much worse.

I had a hormonal IUD for a year and a half a while back, and I feel like it definitely played a part in my OCD / anxiety symptoms creeping up again. I switched to a copper IUD and I feel like I'm doing much better!

Never thought about it. But I have started a new birth control since having my baby and my thoughts and anxiety are much more uncontrolled ...

Your hormones affect your brain chemistry. Some women get depressed and more anxious when taking birth control. Some people may get lucky and don’t have issues like that.

Before I went on birth control, I had bad PMS and my OCD would get really bad. I started birth control and my anxiety and OCD became manageable. My OCD became dormant. I had 1 bad bout of intrusive thoughts when I was on my “good” birth control, which is pretty good since I stayed on this birth control for 5 years... Then I had to switch pills due to insurance reasons and my OCD and anxiety got to a level that I hadn’t experienced in years... so I think if you’re thinking about birth control, there’s definitely pills that’ll work for you and your OCD. However, some birth controls just will not work... everyone responds differently!

Ik this is old but literally had this happen to me. 5 years almost exactly and I had to switch pills due to insurance not covering the name brand. My OCD was never to such a level as it was when I was on that pill and it hasn't gone back to normal since.

Hmmm... my therapist said she’s sure my anxiety/ocd is correlated to new birth control. I had bouts of OCD with my old birth control however it just seemed to be on a whole other level once I switched

I haven’t noticed a correlation between my birth control and my ocd. I don’t think there is any since ocd isn’t a hormonal thing

All I know is I was doing okay till I stopped birth control, then ten days a month have severe anxiety and some depression and ocd symptoms are worse. Going to go back on it. I was only on a low dose but my hormones were much more regular. Guess everybody is different, but for me I know I don’t feel right and need to go back on.

My anxiety and OCD thoughts are way worse around my period so definitely hormone related. I'm scared birth control will make it worse

I tried googling this but didn’t really find anything on it ^^^ happy to know other people noticed this too. I haven’t been taking it this past week and I feel a little bit better. But also around the time when my hand washing started getting serious I had started birth control. That was like four years ago.
