Our minds are worry machines, it's their job. Don't blame it for this. Just see and acknowledge that the stuff it spits out are just words and letters sewn together so they cannot harm you, nor can they have you do something, that's entirely up to you. Don't argue with them or reason with them. It's impossible to do that because they're not seeking answers, acknowledge them and let them come and go.

It’s really hard:( I wish I could just go back to normal, pure thoughts. This stuff is overwhelming

@Anonymous You can't imagine how much I wish this.... I sometimes just try to picture how blissful it would be If I could do that... To see a car and not think about accidents or running over someone you know, or thinking about sex and not being tormented with ideas about homosexuality cuz im straight etc..

Yes I feel the same as well , it really sucks . The best thing to do is to face these thoughts. Doesn’t mean you have to act on them , and doesn’t mean that’s who you are or will do but you facing them can make you feel better bc in reality you know you would never do it whatever it is your thinking about

I mean how do you find happiness again when all my mind does is ruin everything around me

let the thoughts be there, they’ll fade more and more once you stop reacting. reacting to a thought will label it in our brains as a “threat” so it will keep popping up so you can find a solution. once we ignore them like for example, you get a horrible graphic image in your head while you’re out with friends, know the thought is there, don’t react, don’t do any compulsions and just move on. you can have a thought and still disagree with it, we can’t control our thoughts, but we can control how we react. don’t give them power. <3

@hope Thank you 💔 I’ve been struggling with this since December and this time it changed theme and things got more intense. I’ll try to not react to them😢

@Anonymous i wish you the best! you got this! it’ll be tough , ocd is not compassionate lol it will say and put any image in our heads to get a reaction out of us. :) just knowing they’re only intrusive thoughts and they can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do helps a lot.

You're not alone. I feel the same. What do you mean ocd is demonic? Don't listen to that. What do you fear you are becoming?

I was on a live stream about ocd and someone said that it’s satanic and demons get in your head and that reaching to god is the only way out. I know it’s a real medical disorder but that frightened me kinda because of my family’s religion. My fears revolve around being a threat to society, going insane, harming loved ones etc..

@Anonymous i had religious ocd, still do. these comments would always trigger me into thinking i must be possessed and needed an exorcism...it’s been rough. i turned on myself. yes prayer helps and i pray a lot, but ocd isn’t demonic. it’s a mental illness, just like anxiety, panic disorder, depression. it’s a chemical in our brains, a misfiring in our brains functions. :) God loves you. you know you’re a good person and that’s what matters! <3

What if the thoughts are about someone else harming us? How do we know those are just thoughts verse threats

They appear as just thoughts. They don’t stay. Unlike the ones that YOU are the “monster” in a situation

This is something I'm having trouble with too. But then I remember how many times any of those threats turned out to be true for me? And let me tell you the number is close to zero... Cuz I wanna rationalize too, to say that it's unfair That I get to be obligated to distinguish between those that are real threats and those that are not. But then don't turn it into a competition you know, you don't have to be successful %100 when dealing with those thoughts, it's okay to have slips here and there.

@Anonymous They do stay though for me .. what are you trying to say you think these mean?

@Auerbach93 You're having trouble with the thoughts being about others or yourself ?

@Anonymous I had both. I can say harm is not much of a problem for me these days. It gets worse when I'm having huge anxiety attacks as I feel "out of control" but for instance this year I only had one occasion where I was afraid of hurting someone as opposed to multiple times before.

@Anonymous What do you mean they don't stay? They do for me :(

@Anonymous I mean if I think about someone else hurting me. That doesn’t bother me as much as ME being the ones that can hurt someone else. These thoughts stay of course and I don’t know how to handle them.

@Anonymous Yes... The reverse way hurts me more, too. Sort of it appears worse to have the thought about harming someone vs harming myself.
