What methods are you using to calm down?

Just laying down mostly. When I start to have a bad s o o c d moment my sensations make it hard for me to sit down or stand up. It makes me uncomfortable and it makes the symptoms worse. So usually I just lay down and do something menial until it calms down

@Exoduslevi I don't think that is performing any compulsions! Sounds like you are lying down and relaxing as much as possible while waiting for the moment and thoughts to pass

I keep getting these groinal responses when I think about kids or see one and it's really distressing, I only just learned that OCD can make you feel that and it's not actually attraction but it's so hard to remember that and I've seen people talking about accepting uncertainty but I'm so scared to think "maybe it's attraction maybe it's not" instead of "no it's not attraction that's disgusting" and idk what to do

So, yesterday while I was laying in bed, I was relaxing when suddenly I had an intrusive thought about someone, but the thing is that it brought me a sense of enjoyment or calmness for a few seconds before it went away. Once it did, it was only until hours later when I realized what had happened and I began to freak out because I'm reading everywhere that when someone experiences this type of thing, the anxiety happens shortly after the enjoyment or "false" enjoyment. Can OCD do this?
