Thankyou for writing.
Hey what's on ur mind?.
I just recently opened up about my ocd to my family and it hasn’t been going well. They don’t take me serious and probably think I’m crazy. I feel so alone and have been turning to the internet for help. I’m so glad you guys are here.
@Lex1234 Unfortunately that is something I can relate to as much as I have tried to speak to my family about OCD they really don't understand it. Not that I expect them too. However sometimes the comments can really hurt. I'm grateful that this is a safe space where others can relate hope ur feeling a little bit better. God bless X.
@Lex1234 I’m so sorry. I totally get how you feel tho. I also told my family I have ocd, and they say I’m just dramatic. It’s honestly so hard bc I don’t like to talk about my emotions so I just brush it off. it’s even hard to get support from my friends. anytime I tell someone I have ocd they laugh and say they do too. I know they don’t mean it with ill intent, but it’s just so hard bc they have no idea how hard ocd actually is.
@Bex. Thank you and I’m sorry you know all to well that feeling. I’m grateful for this platform as well and so relieved to be able to come here with my thoughts. I do feel a little better. And god bless you too.
@anonymous shell Thankyou. I’m sorry you had to experience that heartache. I think something needs to be done about ocd awareness and how loved ones react to it like it’s an option or controllable without any help. And when they say “everyone has anxiety” really kills me.
@Lex1234 @Lex1234 & @anonymous shell Yessss. It feels so good to have someone understand. But the truth is when others act like they have OCD fr something non OCD it can rly make u mad. I really hope it gets better for u both cuz u both sound awesome 🙂. I have found that one of the best ways if explanation for OCD is like this. OCD is like that game of "don't step on the cracks (or the crocodile will eat you) " except it feels so much more real and then give them a small example of what living with OCD feels like. At the end of the day if they still don't take it that becomes there problem BCOS u don't have to constantly explain urself jus to cater other people especially as you are trying to heal. Always remember healing is messy. Hope it gets better ☺️. God bless you guys.
@Lex1234 Yesss someone said that " no one is mentally sane" to me the other day. Like dude that might be the case but like clearly mental illness has its spectrum.
@Bex. @Lex1234 Thank you so much! It literally feels so good to talk to people who understand bc no one I know irl gets it. And I will definitely have to use that bc that’s a really good example for people, thank you! And omg yes I cannot stand it when people say “everyone has anxiety”. Like yeah, everyone gets nervous but it makes me feel like they’re dismissing how I feel when they say that. You guys each seem super nice tho and I hope things get better! :)
@anonymous shell Yess like everyone can feel anxious that's normal but disorderd anxiety is a whole nother board game.
Here for ya.
Thank you and same to you. Im just having a hard time getting the help I need and am struggling.
@Lex1234 There are some suggestions for sharing it with family members. I think there are even resources here on this app. But also know, you have all of us here in this community on your side. Strength and comfort your way!
