I just learned some good advice from someone who has recovered from this theme. Whenever your trying to distract yourself from thinking about your breathing, blinking, heartbeat, etc by let’s say watching TV. He figured out as one of his compulsions he would turn off the TV, and do something that he thought would distract himself even more after becoming hyper focused on these sensations. Instead when you start feeling hyper focused, don’t turn off the tv (or whatever your distracting yourself with) That will cause more distress. Instead try to sit with it gradually over time. You may still have the thought, but it will calm down after a while. ❤️
