challenges of recovery (getting to know your OCD)
i have found that my OCD has multiple ways of trying to pull me back into rumination. it kind of has different tactics to persuade me to doubt. “what if” , “you are” , “stop this” and it puts images of me being happy within my intrusive thoughts in my head. this used to put me back into rumination almost immediately but it no longer does. it may seem hard but get to know your OCD. discover the ways in which it tries to deceive you, make you doubt etc. this is the only way you’re going to be able to confidently recognise when your OCD arises. over the past four years, i have always known when an OCD attack/flare up is pending. i kind of feel like will byers when he feels like presence of the mind flyer and touches his neck. that’s what it is like for me with OCD because i feel when it’s coming and i therefore have a better chance of not letting it take over and diffusing the anxiety instead. get to know your OCD and it’s triggers, it’s methods of making you doubt and will not surprise you/catch you off guard. it will every now and then but not often. i hope that you’re all okay :)
