Do you guys get "familiar" feelings as if you can see an event playing out or have a feeling an event played out not exactly but something similar ? Like you feel like you were in that same place ? Like you've been in that situation ? And now you are trying to find the details of what exactly or if what you are thinking of is true ? I'm fucking spiraling right now so I would really love a reply from others who have felt the same.
I feel like I have false memories too but I can’t tell, they feel so real but then all of a sudden they start to feel different like I’m remembering them differently from what I thought had happened. I have a super bad memory and haven’t been able to remember much of my childhood but now all of a sudden I’m remembering so much and it’s scary cause I’m like how am I being able to remember all of this right now and then it gets worse because as I’m remembering it my ocd I think tells me that this was how I was feeling or this is what I thought at that moment in time and it’s just so weird because I think to myself like i that’s not how I thought I remembered it idk how to explain it’s like my intrusive thoughts are invading my past memories and making me believe that what I’m suffering with now is what I was suffering with then and then it goes further or I overthink more about like I just didn’t know about it or something until now if that makes sense idk

Me too!! It makes you feel like you are actually some horrible person and have been since you were little it’s actually so scary and it feels so real
Yes there are things I’ve done in my past I regret deeply as I’m sure every one has something they do as well and I remember just feeling so disgusted with myself as if I hadn’t forgiven myself for that mistake and just felt completely awful and then also the ocd subtype and intrusive thoughts invading my memory as well and just making me feel like I don’t or didn’t know myself at all is the worst and I’ll get so confused and lost and stuck in questions that I had felt I already answered if that makes sense like simple ones too literally just like what’s your favorite color and I’ll be so confused on how to answer it you know
Like its a familiar feeling but I don't know what happens, it tells me something but not the full story. And I feel sick. Nothing is vivid right now but I continue to have these feelings of realness and familiarity and I can feel that I've done the actions and all of the sorts. I seriously can't handle these things and they all deal with sexual things which disgusts me even more.
@InkJoy123 Yeah its just ocd trying to trick you, whenever i have a false memory or a memory that could be false i ask myself “am i 100% sure this happened?” “when did this happen?” “is this just ocd giving me a false memory” and it helps a little
@Ruee it just sucks cause its like it could also be something that did happen, but because I don't know what I think its creating something bad due to my ocd ? So maybe thats why but still.... thanks for the reply :) It just sucks really cause theres a certain like phrase that was "said" in the memory and thats it. Thats all it is. I'm also afraid to even make things up cause I know our minds are so like powerful you can say that it could trick me into believing something too ! Thanks again :)
@catherine ! Yeah I guess. But its like god I see it !! I see the event play out you know ? And it feels so real and my anxiety heightens because of it. Like there can be so many things on how that also can be real as well but I guess thats me continuing to look and look huh ? Idk its like the feeling of it being played out feels sooooo real like you know you were in that position, you just know it. Is that how you felt ?
I'm adding a trigger warning for those with Health OCD and Existential OCD, just to be safe! The past week, I've been experiencing a lot of déjà vu. I'll post something and immediately feel a strong sense of familiarity, like I've done it before. It's been happening so often, I'm questioning if I am actually repeating things and not noticing, but then there's obvious moments, like phoning my dad for help fixing my pc that can't be replicated. Then, just before writing this post, I'd been thinking about going on a walk, and I got déjà vu having that thought. After, I felt this strange impending doom? Like, if I go on the walk, I'm going to get kidnapped, or something bad is going to happen to me. I'm not sure what this is. I'm not super freaked out, just curious and keeping track of how often it's happening... I'm still going to go on that walk, though, because I feel like if I don't, it'll feed into this fear I have.
Does anyone else’s false memory intrusive thoughts of what could have happened feel very, very real?
When false memories have popped up for you guys, did they feel real straight away like pop up like a memory but you’re still doubting whether they’re real?
