Hi there halem77. When I worked at a residential level of care, we would refer patients out for Deep brain stimulation, or "Deep" TMS, when they had difficulty habituating to exposures in ERP. These individuals responded well, and afterward were much more responsive to treatment. However, this is a different form of treatment than "standard" TMS, which has more treatment effectiveness/efficacy for depression.

@NOCD Therapist - Jason G. Thanks for the insight! My one therapist in the past recommended it and basically said there was no hope for me with meds and therapy. I really don’t want to have to do TMS. But I’m scared that I’m the exception of not getting better.

I just got diagnosed with ocd and she suggested I think about taking lexapro for it. Has anybody tried that and does it help at all?

i’ve been struggling with tics a lot lately. my doctor and neurologist are still unsure whether it’s a tic disorder like tourette’s, or if it’s myoclonic absence seizures i’m having. i’m getting an EEG done soon, but does anyone else have this or know someone who does??

I’m considering trying therapy through nocd. This is too heavy for me to try and hold in anymore. I had a really bad night last night. I don’t want to use my mom’s insurance so I’d be self pay. Has anyone tried and is it worth it in your opinion? I’m afraid this is starting to affect my relationship and even my job+ feels more debilitating than ever. I think it might be time I’m also so shy. I wish I could do text therapy rather than phone visit 😫 any advice? I’m sure it’s not as bad as I imagine it’ll be. If anything I’ll bet it’s nice and I won’t feel the need to hold back. I’m also not diagnosed yet, has anyone gotten a diagnosis from doing therapy this way?
