I’ve tried both Prozac and Zuloft to help treat my OCD and neither has worked. I was on 80mg of Prozac and now 150mg of Zuloft but have felt little to no difference. Is there a better medication anyone can suggest? Thanks
From my experience medication is not particularly effective. I have tried both many medications and therapy in the past. I am hopeful that ERP - exposure response prevention, a form of cognitive behavioral therapy will help. I wish you all the best and understand that this journey can be very difficult and challenging.

I have taken Klonopin for sleep and occasional daytime use. Now I am having a hard time getting off it . It works but after a while there is tolerance and sometimes rebound anxiety after I take it . I wish I hadn’t started it but I was desperate and ran out of options. I feel like medications are only a temporary solution and just drags this process out. With the novel behavioral therapy and the support of this community I am optimistic I can beat this ! I feel like a big safety net is there to help me. All my best to everyone as I understand just how this condition can impact life . The only encouragement I can offer is that I have lived through this for 40 years and am still here to beat this and live a happy life
I was prescribed risperidone 0.5mg Dr said it would help with the My wondering thoughts I haven't tried it yet I'm obsessing about the medication hopefully I will try it when the obsessing stop's.

For me, Trintellix had been the only medication that has helped my ocd. Erp is best in the long run but medication can really help you get to the point where therapy is effective
Many years ago I tried 80mg fluoxetine (Prozac) and also tried 200mg of sertraline (Zoloft). they both did absolutely nothing to help my OCD. At times I had doubts that maybe I didn’t actually even have OCD bc those meds were some of the most proven and just did absolutely nothing for me. Years later I found out with genetic testing I was an Ultrarapid metabolizer of them, so now it makes a ton of sense in retrospect. Ask you psychiatrist about GeneSight genetic testing. The only thing that ended up working for my OCD was risperidone.

Zoloft did nothing but make me worse, and I gave it a chance for 3 months. Lexapro did wonders for me for about 9 years. Then I went through a traumatic event and Lexapro just quit working all together, even after increasing the dose. I want to try something else. It’s just a matter of finding what works best for you and having the patience to do so. Klonopin is great when I’m in a state of panic but I only take it for emergencies as I don’t want to become addicted to benzos.
I have tried so so many medications (SSRI, etc.) for OCD treatment. The only one I have had success with is Lexapro, but it then caused a ton of side effects. I have tried Prozac, Zoloft, and now I am on Pristiq with not much success. Does anyone have a recommendation I could bring to my physician? They are also kind of at a loss with new medications for me to try.
I’m trying to figure out the best medicine for ocd/anxiety I’m currently taking 20mg of Prozac and have been taking it for awhile but no success. Can anyone tell me what they are taking and how it’s helped them
Four months ago, I began taking 25mg of Zoloft, and my dosage has since been increased to 100mg. This increase has significantly alleviated the anxiety and heart palpitations caused by my OCD. However, it hasn't been as effective in treating my depression. Alongside medication, I'm currently undergoing ERP therapy. Given the mixed results, I'm considering either switching medications or augmenting my current regimen. I have a consultation with my doctor tomorrow to explore my options. I've heard from others that finding the right combination of medications can make a huge difference. Does anyone have experience with a multi-medication approach that has been beneficial for them?
