Hi there! I’ve just recently received my OCD diagnosis and found out that I’ve just been raw-dogging OCD since I was a young child. Im considering taking medication to help me and my therapist suggested Zoloft. Has anyone taken Zoloft for OCD/anxiety? Any side effects that I would want to be aware of from personal experience? Thanks !!
When i was 18 i was diagnosed as having anxiety and depression and I was put on sertraline (generic zoloft) it worked for me. I took it for 3 months and at some point started smoking weed again and I had no issues for 10 years. I was aware that I had intrusive thoughts when I was 18 and that I had to take medication to stop it, but felt completely normal again after taking it and for a while. But that's not exactly the case this time. And I guess everyone is different. I wouldn't recommend what I did, I'm just sharing my experience

They all have side effects. Prepare to put up with some as you try different meds. Zoloft always effects my libido and my memory a bit. But honestly rawdogging is way worse. I've been on and off meds for the last 25 years and I can promise you that getting off isn't a good idea even if you think it is. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with GAD/MDD at 17 and was prescribed Zoloft. I found it quieted my obsessions (this was partly how I realized I had OCD). It did affect my libido and ability to climax, and I constantly felt like I needed to yawn, but it really worked for my OCD. I took it on and off for 7 years before fully stopping, and was OK for some years but am really struggling again now. Was officially diagnosed with OCD earlier this month and doc is putting me on clomipramine instead of Zoloft. Curious to see how it’ll be, but I did like and appreciate Zoloft. Looking back, I’d say taking it was worth it even with the side effects.

Hello,I'm so on the fence about starting medications or not. I know its a personal choice but what benefits have you all experianced? I also practice ERP with my therapist so I know that should be helpful with my OCD journey. But what made you decide to start or not start? I've been on Zoloft before but not long enough to feel the effects since I got freaked out about reading about withdrawl symptoms so my OCD messed that up for me.
I’ve tried both Prozac and Zuloft to help treat my OCD and neither has worked. I was on 80mg of Prozac and now 150mg of Zuloft but have felt little to no difference. Is there a better medication anyone can suggest? Thanks
