Hey guys. I noticed a lot of people posting are a bit younger (teenagers)which is great for them. I was wondering if there are many people around my age and above? Late 20’s and up? Just curious to see what the community is like. I would deal with OCD a lot as a kid and for a long time it was manageable. As an adult it’s transformed into something else and has been pretty bad lately. Has anyone had OCD that has gotten worse with age?
In my 30's here too. I always thought I just had anxiety growing up, but looking back now it probably was OCD even then. It hasn't necessarily gotten worse with age for me, but did suddenly turn into what it is now to where I knew it wasn't just anxiety & hence discovered ocd diagnosis.

I'm 41. My OCD severity has varied over my adulthood at different stages. Mostly related to life changes, for me.
I'm 40 and thus has been true for me as well. My OCD themes have sort of shifted over time to some extent - some themes have receded more into the background while others have become more intense, and newer ones have cropped up. I've found though that with are ERP I'm starting to learn the tools to manage it and it gets a little easier with practice. Sometimes I feel like I'm not making progress and other times I like I'm actually coping pretty well. It's definitely not linear, but I'm hopeful that my recovery trends in a good direction overall, if that makes sense! It's not easy. But knowing that I'm not alone in this helps :)

I’m 63 and I would say I’ve had OCD since my 20’s. It would get worse at stressful times but then it would go back down. But 2 years ago it skyrocketed. That was when I started getting counseling with NOCD and it has been a huge help. I’m sorry yours has gotten worse with age.
I’m in my 30’s. Yes I notice it’s a lot of teens here. Not an issue like you said, but sometimes it’s nice to relate with someone a little older…

Yes I’m in my early 20s and I could deal with my ocd when I was younger (teenage years). But in reality I was just compulsing for all those years and now it’s biting me in the ass lol
I’m in my late 20s, started experiencing symptoms in my mid-teens that got much worse by the time I started college. Tried to numb it all for some time and found some success but got away from therapy for several years. Felt like I got to a point where I could “manage” but knew things weren’t as solid as they could be. Started NOCD recently and excited about the journey ahead. Reading a lot as well on the topic (would highly recommend pure o ocd by chad lejeune) which has been helpful along with the therapy, especially discussing areas that really resonate

I’m 32. My OCD was manageable as a teen/early 20s, but after I turned 30 it got worse and not manageable. I was diagnosed a year ago, and have been working through it since.
I’m 26! Had OCD when I was younger but didn’t know until now after experiencing trauma that I had it!
I'm 21 but I feel my intrusive thoughts have gotten worse since it began in 2020. When it started it was pretty horrible but it's both gotten better and worse with certain thoughts. I have had themes that stuck with me since and I feel like will never leave me but I also feel like I'm developing new themes such as health and contamination.
I just recently turned 51 and take medication for ocd but STILLhave major issues--i need some hope--🥰
Hi there, recently diagnosed with ocd. Now i do recognise some behaviors being a child that were associated with ocd but i could live with them and they never caused me harm. Ocd flared up out of nowhere due to my life being stressful 2 months ago and now i haven’t been the same since. Did it just appear out of nowhere for everyone else. Im so worried it wont get better and it will always be this bad. I constantly have existential thoughts and health w suicide ocd.
I’m a 20 yr old female, I think I’ve always had ocd but the symptoms didn’t become apparent to me until I was about 17. I feel like that’s where life went downhill for me. OCD attacks everything that is important to me, my sexuality, my morals, even my health. Sometimes I wish I could be a kid again and not have this vicious disease in my head constantly bullying me. But I know I will overcome it one day.
