I just wanted to ask was it okay to talk about religion up here because I see a lot of people talking about god a lot. Since I know a lot of people have trouble with religion ocd I just want to ask how their doing and also the non Christian’s up here ?
I'd put a trigger warning on it like you've done. If they don't share your beliefs or religion, they don't have to comment. Also there's a lot of triggering subjects on here for people but it's ultimately a helpful community
Their OCD thought are a lot related to God. As much that there's something cleed religion and spirituality OCD.
I'd like to tell you that even in religions of the East like Hinduism, people suffer from OCD. And Hinduism is a very vast and a polytheistic religion with so many scriptures and so many philosophies. And so many interpretations and commentaries too. In Buddhism I think so. I have heard someone mention that Buddhist teachings are not that accurate and that there are so e interpolations and the way we view Buddha's teachings are completely wrong. I get why they say that. Because, Buddha's teachings were orally recited to their students for generations of years after the writing system came in place. So the earliest teachings were not recorded in writing. Instead they were all passed down orally until someone decided to write what he knew or his own views ( it could be anything). So seeing all this. I do think there are Buddhists too who suffer from OCD.
So we may not exactly know what Buddha said.
He then said that the misuse of Buddha's teachings were used for manipulation and discrimination in society.
@yukari Oh I know I was just asking how the non Christian people were dealing with their ocd I myself am not a Christian that’s why I was asking how other non Christian feel but thanks for educating me

@Unique121 it usually depends on a person's perspective. But I think pretty much the same, as how the therapists are giving. They have good days, they have bad days, in some countries, the mental health awareness needs to raise. Only in America and some parts are OCD starting to gain awareness. I don't think there's any specific way of treating besides the therapy suggestions. However the essence of mediation is to observe the thoughts and not react to it. But for meditation it differs from person to person. They may have their own ways of calming the mind. Some people just to with the philosophy rather than mythological stories. Because taking this too literally can give us the fear and we won't be able to live more freely..you don't have to believe everything said. Eastern religions promote using your intellect and sort out things for yourself. Which i believe should be there for every one. You can believe your God but don't need to follow rituals. Is one way how people do this. Some become atheists, some become agonists..some still be there. Because this is all your choice.

Hi there I talk about religion (but I'm not trying to force it down anyone's throat) So my main event (which is the one that truly bothers me) happened in 2015 when I was 14. I won't go into any details or anything. I will say that it got so bad once that I almost committed something detrimental to my health earlier this year. Not long after that I spoke to a doctor and basically confessed what's been happening to my brain and my mistakes, he mentioned things that really resonated with me, I'll paraphrase a bit: "Okay, so what you did was not good but it's not something to condemn yourself for. It falls into the grey area, you've apologized and have been forgiven (even though I apologized over text, which comes across cowardly)but it seems that you haven't forgiven yourself. There's a whole lot of difference between you at 14 and you at 23. Try to have some perspective." This really helped and it still does, but unfortunately ocd tries to find a way around this. I'll get a thought of "oh but you forgot to mention that other part of the event" and it magnifies it. Can anyone relate? I've done everything but fully move on because I sometimes feel like I don't deserve to move on. And I'm still worried over the future.
hey! i was thinking it would be cool if there would be a place where we could find people and become friends with other people dealing with ocd. it could be a safe place for us to say our experience so far, or to just talk about anything, even if it’s not ocd related. lmk what you think about this idea and comment what you think we could/should make it on!
Hi I kept seeing this app on repeat on TikTok over and over and I thought I give it a shot. I have never been diagnosed with OCD but I know that I have it. I’m a young adult and I found out the first time I had OCD was watching lelelons truth video? I was 14 at the time She had to resist sitting back down in a chair after her having sat down she started having a mental break down when she was told to resist. That’s when I knew. It started with myself going up and down a staircase twice buckling unbuckling my seat belt everytime I’m in the car ect I have always been super anti social but trying my best I can socialize but my mind wants to make it sexual with family and friends ughhhh I hate it because that’s not me when I graduated thoughts of hurting my loved ones corrupted my mind I broke down outside of church one time asking if this was really me or not i question if I’m a good enough friend or person in this world to begin with thinking everyone is judging me so so close how can I make this situation better did I do something wrong I struggle with depression as well not to bad but it’s there I come from a loving family but broken as well i believe in god and my OCD makes me go often he’s not real that stuff isn’t real no one is there to save you the list goes on. Anyway I struggle a lot and I really hope that this will help me because I feel extremely hopeless. Lucky for me I do have the ability to seek therapy and I am excited. The only person I ever tell my thoughts to is God no other human has heard so I’m really really hoping this helps me out if your reading this thank you it means a lot because this is my first time ever admitting all this it’s a lot to take in I know and I hope you are ok and that you have a great night and know that we got this
