Do you ever watch crime shows and then can’t enjoy them anymore because you suddenly think “that seems like something I would/want to do” and then you can’t watch it anymore? I love criminal minds but it triggers me so bad.

@Chickensalad Then it comes with bodily sensations and you go “am I excited? Do I get excited by this? Does that mean I want to?” And I have to wait months to watch it again

I relate to this. For the longest time, I avoided even watching/reading anything in the mystery genre and especially true crime. As a teen I watched a lot of true crime - justice is a value of mine - but OCD latched on and had me terrified I was a closeted voilent criminal. For ERP, I began to read articles then moved onto watching true crime. I watch true crime several days a week now for upkeep. I'm able to watch many different shows now if I want. I don't like shows like Criminal Minds, they're too intense & messed up for my liking, but I'm able to watch crime/mystery shows that appeal to me without having significant OCD issues. Don't avoid, start small, work your way back up to what you enjoy watching! If I can do it, so can you!
@ReadyForImprovement Thank you so much! And I can definitely see what you mean with criminal minds! I mostly watch it for the characters themselves (Spencer Reid specifically he’s my favorite) but the other stuff gets in the way 😭

Guys I’m scared I’m a serial killer. Like what if I kill somebody how do I know I won’t. Also like watching murder documentary’s trigger this.
does anyone else get really triggered when watching stuff to do with serial killers, p3dos, r@pists etc. I literally start to compare myself and check to see if i share any qualities with them. Ita really scary cause i really like this show Criminal minds, and i absolutely adore the characters, but its hard watching something i like cause of all the g0re and stuff. Not to mention all the thoughts that are convincing me i like the horrible stuff. Someone tell me if tou relate..
I love horror movies and would watch them random sometimes even Terrifier cause art is my new favorite character. I just felt like I was a bad person for this⁉️ I don’t support his actions but I like his goofy faces he makes. I can’t enjoy anything no more Literally me rn in life
