Dose anyone else get this or is it just me going crazy about this going to jail ocd fear it’s almost like the thoughts don’t stop it’s the fear of being locked away and forgotten so much fear can someone please share their take on this and what to do or where this stems from
I can totally relate! I fear going to jail every time I see a cop car. Also, when I pick up my nieces and nephews from school, they have this system where they check your ID and each time I get nervous even though I know I didn’t do anything. I use to do background checks on myself just make sure I didn’t do anything that I wasn’t aware of. Its a constant fear. Fear of letting my family down and not being there when they need me the most. Im not sure what to do either or where it comes from but know you are not alone!

Many of us out here so definitely not alone. I hope you overcome this damnable disorder. But just so you know performing background checks will make your OCD worse as that is a compulsion. I used to reassure myself a lot by looking up articles online and it only strengthens OCD. It's really difficult but try to live with the uncertainty. Tell yourself you may go to jail. Maybe you did commit a crime. Maybe you will let your family down. The truth is all people have these fears but most people get the thought then disregard the thought because it isn't likely. But don't tell yourself it isn't likely to happen as that is also a compulsion.

@StoicGuy Thank you 🙏🏻 I recently came to NOCD a few months ago and realized I was doing some serious damage to myself. I appreciate the advise! Its so hard but slowly im getting better. I tell myself to not feed the monster inside me!
I get this as well. It feels so real and scary I just try to fight through the feelings as they pass eventually ❤️
@Cierra❤️ At the time it does seem so real and overwhelming that I can’t even eat or sleep

@0416 I fear that I will lose my temper uncontrollably and be arrested. Or I fear I will be arrested for my false memory or there will be a misunderstanding etc. etc. etc.

@0416 I used to feel like it was a foregone conclusion but not so much now. I have less triggers now. I used to take drugs and associate with criminals and violent people. I don’t drink anymore either.

@0416 When you expose yourself to your fears it becomes less scary so if ocd is fear based you won’t have the thought as often
My ocd has been flaring up lately I’ve noticed some things that I don’t know if it’s ocd or something else whenever I seen someone like drugged or sick or just not “normal” I feel like or get scared that’s gonna end up being me? Does that make sense or then after a few minutes I feel like I’m them I don’t know exactly how to explain it I feel like I’m gonna start acting crazy or like I act weird or like them ? Idk exactly how to explain it and I have such a drop in my stomach thinking of it because it makes me feel insane, I haven’t had such an ocd episode so it’s getting hard again and making me feel insane specially because I don’t know how to explain this that I feel, I feel so scared rn can someone please comment on this?
Hello everyone. I often get the feeling that I will go crazy or in a state of permanent suffering. The thought is very persistent and I think is OCD repeating that disturbing thought. If anyone feels the same way. What do you do about it?
This is my first post, so I apologize if the formatting is weird. I experience existential ocd I always struggled as a kid but learned more and more how to manage with school and such forcing me to learn how, now I experience a lot of overwhelming intrusions from when I wake up to when I go to bed (simply because I live and work in the same place it gets cabin feverish) but now more often going out maybe it’s just paranoia, I walk into a place and each person comes with a story immediately, every piece of trash on the floor, every piece of produce, each isle is a brand new way I could get into a life altering situation. I’ve managed well enough but sometimes I just completely lose my original objective and just leave or I’ll wanna leave my house but everything that goes with it and that could happen pops up and I just won’t go. It’s started to become avoidant behavior. Any help or similar stories? I just feel like I’m going crazy but my thoughts are so scattered and immediate it’s hard to break the habit and not spin a story. Thank yall!
