Has anyone had success with meds and ocd? I suffer from overthinking. I Can’t get out of my head . I know results can vary just looking for some hope or light at the end of the tunnel. It’s really hard to live like this.
Meds do work for stabilising your mood but it’s when I incorporated meds and therapy, that I really noticed improvement
I’m currently taking fluoxetine which is usually for young people. My honest experience is that the first few weeks of taking it, I would have panic attacks as my OCD was getting worse and the meds were not settling in. After a few weeks, I definitely felt a lot more satisfied with life and just able to cope during OCD episodes. They have been increasing my dose for 3 years but because treatment is going well thank god, I might have to slowly get off it
I have been on sertraline for a number of years. For me it makes tge intrusive thoughts quieter to make therapy a little easier. As others say combine it with therapy to get the best. It takes time to ramp up and get the dosage right, so you got to weather the storm of side effects and your doctors getting the dosage right.
Anybody here on medication for their OCD? I know everyone’s experience is different, and different medications work differently for different people, but I’m just trying to get a pulse on what to expect. I’m seeing a psychiatrist soon and I’m hoping to get some meds going.
I’m contemplating on taking meds, and would like to hear some opinions/experiences with them. I’m honestly tired of being in and out of OCD land.
