I just started Sertraline 25mg and some days I feel fine, like I’m actually making progress and then all of a sudden I feel intense anxiety , and it makes my obsessions intense. I’m on day 12 of my medication. Does it get better ?
Yes, it does. Zoloft can take weeks to adjust to. I was ready to quit because of a similar experience, but my doc said it takes something like 4-6 weeks to reach a therapeutic level. Try to be patient with your body as it works with the medication to help you.

Yes!!! this happened to me exactly. if you feel like it’s causing your suicidal ocd to get worse talk to your provider sooner rather than later. It’s a side effect of the zoloft. Yes, some medications make it worse before it gets better but for It’s shouldn’t be amplifying your harm ocd.
@Anonymous It is exacerbating my suicide OCD but I know it’s my OCD and I don’t actually wanna do it. I just started this medication. What should I do !?

Hey! So last night I started taking 25mg of Zoloft. And today I feel better! (Thank Heavens) SO FAR, there has been no side effects. Is that normal? Should I brace myself? Is the worst yet to come? Is it just a placebo effect? I’ve had this medicine sitting in my cabinet for a month because I have been scared to take it. Some of the rare side effects is almost too much for my anxiety to handle. The uncertainty of it all is scary. For those who have taken SSRIs/Zoloft before, what was the first 2 weeks like?
So I’ve been on Zoloft since ending of October and went on 100mg about 2 weeks ago. I really started feeling the affects and it has made me calmer but I still have a lot of intrusive thoughts and today my mood swings were off the charts which my ocd feeds off of and now my mind feels like it’s racing. It could be because I get on my period in a week but can this still happen while on medication or should I talk to my doctor about a new prescription? What’s the goal of medication if you could just share your story
Hi Everyone! My boyfriend just started his Zoloft journey about 2 weeks ago now (he has Pure O). The first week it seemed to kick in well and he was having an easier time dismissing his intrusive thoughts leading to less compulsions. However this second week he seems distant and zombie like…. I know they said it takes a month or 2 to fully work but I’m hoping this zombie like fog will diminish. Does anyone have any advice or similar stories or suggestions on their experiences with this medication?
