I started Zoloft 12 days ago and I feel it’s exacerbating my self harm OCD. I definitely do not want to hurt myself , but it felt so intense yesterday. I’m really hoping it doesn’t happen today because the anxiety is too much. Did this happen to anyone and should I continue it !?

@ashcash I’m still taking the Zoloft but I do not enjoy it. It still makes me feel more depressed, and doesn’t seem to help the OCD that much so I will be coming off of it soon
Hey bro. Give it time. My first two weeks were horrible. To the point I was like am I ever gonna get fixed. A month in and it's helped so much. Also, lean into your support system! Blessings to you!
What were the first couple of weeks like? How is it helping you now?
@Anonymous My thoughts were still there and strong as ever. I was instructed to take Zoloft at night and that was the worst for me cause I couldn't sleep. Once I switched to the morning everything changed. My sleeping schedule is back to normal. The first month I was waking up exactly at 4 AM every night. I also had depression with my OCD flare up, but now I'm way better a month in. The insomnia did stay for awhile. But trust it does take time. Also I journaled alottttt to help me remain out of my thoughts.
@Hewhocares Some days I’m off and on. Like I’ll have a real good day and I feel somewhat at peace but then I start to get anxiety out of nowhere and feel stuck. I’ve been on it two months already. Idk if it’s the exact medication for me at this point. They do say you have to give it 12 weeks fully
@tylermatthewsnead Ya I would say maybe if it's like that after two months you may want to try something else. I've had way more good days than bad days on Zoloft. I'm also only on 50 MG and was just recently diagnosed with OCD/Anxiety and depression. The depression subsided like week 3. Intrusive thoughts are down and compulsions just started going down two weeks ago. More so helps me maintain. Stay busy and journaling. You got to remember the pill isn't suppose to like make everything go away but it is to give a boost. But I would be lying if I didn't have a horrible first two weeks on Zoloft. Literally my thoughts got worse the first two weeks, which I heard was normal. You got this though man. First step is getting help and you seemed to do that!
@Hewhocares - Did it hurt your stomach? I took it one day and was constantly in the bathroom or freaked out that I wouldn’t make it to the bathroom. 😔
@Anonymous Yes I 100% had bathroom issues they all will subside. My insomnia has been gone for a solid week and I don't need my hydro to help me sleep through the night anymore. It's all a process and please do not try to rush it. Remember to take everything one day at a time. Don't think of yesterday and don't plan for tomorrow. Live in the now and work daily. You will have some good and some bad, but know the good days will start to stack. Small wins!!

Yes it does,but you have to give it time to get into your system to work properly. I'm on Zoloft too and you'll get through it!

Hi all! I am on Zoloft 100mg and I was hoping to get some feedback! My biggest fear is being suicidal and sometimes I’m like checking to see if I am suicidal on the medication but then I think maybe it’s my ocd. My doctor wants to go higher but I’m wondering if this is a good idea based on my thoughts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I went to talk to a psychiatrist based off my Nocd therapists recommendation. I had a very hard week beforehand where I had anxiety so bad I couldn't leave my bed. It seems like once I get my period my anxiety and everything dissipated some so I talked to the psychiatrist. Anyways, I was immediately put off by her because she told me she didn't have any information on me included in the referral for one reason or another. So I had to basically "fill her in" on my life story. I have anxiety disorder, panic disorder, OCD and PTSD. I told her these things and how hard the last week had been. She started asking questions like I had bipolar disorder, which I don't have. She then wanted me to take buspar and Zoloft TOGETHER daily. I know for a fact you never start two medications daily at once. You don't know which one is causing symptoms if you do. So I immediately didn't like that. I asked her about Zoloft specifically daily because it is an SSRI what I should do if it gave me thoughts of harm for myself. She told me "just go to the hospital".... Now, I don't wanna say that was the worst possible thing she could have said to me, but it was. Because now my OCD is spiraling that just my general harm OCD thoughts are enough to mean I need to go to the hospital. It had been 2 days and I cannot stop obsessing that maybe I'm depressed or suicidal because of this. I know I don't want anything to happen to me. I love my family and my friends. I am scared of death. But the thought is sticky and it's been so, so frustrating. My anxiety has been so frustrating. I feel so lost and like nothing I'm trying to fix my issues is working very well. NOCD therapy has been one of the only things to help in the long term, but I still get terrified of certain obsessions like suicide. I don't really know what to do, if anyone has any advice or any personal experience that may help, anything would be nice right now. I've felt so lost trying to figure it all out.
I was diagnosed with OCD and I started Prozac 10 days ago. I have struggled with intrusive taboo sexual thoughts for 12+ years (I’m 24) but now I feel like it’s turning into feelings. I’ve never done anything to anyone or nor do I wish to ever. I am just scared of my own brain if this is something I actually want. My psychiatrist said I should feel better/start getting clarity after 2 weeks. But I keep feeling worse and worse. Anyone else has experience with Prozac and how it went for them?
