My ROCD has been hyperfocused on why my sex life with my husband has been a lot less frequent. Thinking he’s lying, thinking I’m not good enough, etc. I started getting triggered by romantic scenes in movies and books, they make me really sad and want to stop watching.
You’re not alone. It’s so weird though. I was in my 19th year of marriage when it struck me suddenly. Never having worried at all. Don’t give in. But also, work to know who YOU are and that even if it were true, you can have a life and a future. You’d be okay. I have found that helps me give the fear less power.
Omg me too! You are not alone and we will learn how we are supposed to live this way. I’m new to this life also. I’ve always felt this way but more so since the birth of our second child. We’ve been together for 13 and he is the most faithful man I could ever know. It’s so hard to tell ourselves we’re being foolish
Also if you adventurous, I told myself to get out of my shell, he’s my damn husband so I got a few things to spice it up…. I don’t know the rules on this app yet lol like this week brand new to this. It really helped though! He was happy with it, I definitely was lol but most importantly I found it helped shut my brain up! I knew I was bigger than this, and I had to remember that but the physical I found was extremely important in my journey also and I just explained that to my husband also
That happens to me too! You arent alone
So my most current theme has been ROCD. It’s been nagging at me for the last 4 years. OCD makes me INCREDIBLY self critical and I often turn that internal voice on to my partner and can be incredibly critical of him. In essence, I’m almost subconsciously sabotaging my relationship which is the OPPOSITE of what I want. I’m looking for people who experience this same response and patterned behaviour. Share tips, in-the-moment awareness suggestions. Words of encouragement (not reassurance). OCD is such a trip lol
My rocd flared up around the time my girlfriend and i were starting the process of getting an apartment. At the start, I was very excited and so happy to be moving together. then my mind kept thinking “she’s not going to let you have any say in anything, she doesn’t want you decorating, you guys don’t like the same things” and i started to believe that, which eventually led to me saying all that. and from there on, it gradually got worse. I started having thoughts like “do i even love her? am i in love with her? having i been faking it this entire time? do i have feelings for anymore? etc” and then i would have thoughts of breaking up and i’d get so anxious. now i wake up every morning thinking “i don’t love her, i don’t want to be in a relationship with her” and i get sooooo anxious. i know i love her, i know i don’t want to break up with her, i know the apartment is something i genuinely want, i just can’t feel any of it right now. every time i think of breaking up, i try to imagine my life without her and it doesn’t seem right. i genuinely can’t imagine not being with her. my feelings and thoughts before all this were very much happy and healthy, like i was smitten but now my thoughts affect me everyday, they’re all i think about. it’s all i research, i talk about it too much to other people, the thoughts are making me feel like i’m faking everything. does anyone have tips. i just want to feel like i used to feel
I can’t remember why something triggered me, which is now in turn triggering me. I used to watch the first Harry Potter all the time. It was my comfort movie and I’d watch it to fall asleep if I was going to bed after my husband. I remember a few months ago there was SOMETHING related to my OCD that caused the movie to become very triggering (ROCD). Now today I’m sitting here and I can’t remember why it was so triggering. I’m racking my brain for everything and I can’t figure it out. Not knowing why it was so triggering in the first place is triggering me. What is happening 😭 P.S. - I think it’s because a guy friend put me in his phone as the dark lord and I felt guilty? Or maybe because I used to watch it when I was panicking and I related the movie to panic? I just want to know to make sure it’s okay to not feel triggered by it anymore. This is awful.
