Ive been on 50 lmg for 2 weeks and its helping but still get minor anxiety attacks but definitely starting to feel mutch better. Medication is what helped me a year ago and i stoped thinking i didn't need it but 6 months after stopping i had a lapse
@OCDVIC This makes me feel so much better. I’m happy it’s working for you. I just get so in my head about medication, but Ik it’ll help.
@tylermatthewsnead Oh dude im not a big fan of big pharma but if it helps fck it. Lol its hard for me to take ibuprofen sometimes for headaches and that should tell you allot 🤦♂️😂
Are you in talk therapy with a trained OCD therapist who uses ERP therapy? Zoloft without talk therapy is not a panacea.
@Steven55! I have a therapist. She doesn’t specialize in OCD, but she knows a little bit about it. I’ve been telling her about my medication journey and I like her
@tylermatthewsnead - I was on Zoloft years ago for OCD, but my therapist wasn't trained in treating it. Consequently, although the Zoloft helped to take the edge off it didn't treat the disorder. I dropped it later on. It wasn't until I found a trained OCD therapist who uses ERP therapy that I began to recover. Never needed the meds, although I'm certainly not knocking anyone who does use them. I'm not disrespecting your therapist, but if you feel you're not getting anywhere with the treatment of the disorder you can find a good, trained OCD therapist through NOCD.
@Steven55! Can also attest that I was on high doses of zoloft without therapy and struggled greatly with ocd. The ERP is what is 100% non negotiable to me to recover
@Steven55! I definitely will be getting a NOCD therapist once I find a job and can pay for the services. Until then I have to use my Medicaid insurance
@Anonymous Yes I am noticing that the Zoloft eases my symptoms to the point where I can still go about my day , but the thoughts still feel so real sometimes. The Zoloft just helps give me less anxiety about them , so the therapy is definitely needed
I feel this deeply
But time is your best friend and always remember sometimes depending on the person anxiety could get worst before better on SSRI'S
@OCDVIC Yeah my 25mg definitely made my symptoms worse in the beginning but then I noticed a slight shift towards the 4th week and that’s why my doctor decided to increase my dosage. I’m hoping I don’t have a set back
What kind of ocd you dealing with?
@Illyas Basically all themes. I have pure OCD
@tylermatthewsnead They jump from one to another or sometimes I’ll have all themes , and some days if I’m lucky I’m not struggling as much
@tylermatthewsnead - I've been on a similar journey with OCD. I've been through several themes.
I’ve been discussing this medication with my therapist as my escitalopram hasn’t been working. Would love to know how it works out for you
@alicee_1100 It’s working really well for my depressive symptoms. That’s the only reason I decided to take it. The OCD was one thing but depression on top of that made it harder for me to cope. Now for my OCD , I still get intrusive thoughts that bug me but they pass more often than not. I still definitely need ERP therapy though.
Understood.
day 2 , I’ve been taking it at night. the nausea is unreaaaallll. I also woke up in panic but since I got off Zoloft I’ve kinda been doing that. Hope it gets better 🥹
So my doctor is starting me on 25 mg of Zoloft soon and I'm actually really exicted. I'm finally ready for this to be manageable. I know it's not a cure but I am told that zoloft is primarily recommended for specifically ocd. I'm not sure if I'm ready to start it tonight but yeah. Please do not tell me any negative side effects or anything related to nausea since I'm taking it for emetophobic contamination ocd and I don't need any opinions to make me biased but if any of yoy had SUCCESSFUL zoloft stories please comment!!
my psychiatrist is starting me on a low dose (10mg once daily as needed) of propranolol in two days. i’m very nervous as i really don’t like experimenting with new meds..it makes me so scared and so anxious. but i think my anxiety has gotten so bad that i need to start using stronger meds. before i was on hydroxyzine which is basically just benadryl. and then i was on buspirone 3x daily, which was basically like taking tic tacs for me. and what i struggle with in anxiety is the physical symptoms it gives me. which causes my anxiety to get stronger. which makes my medical OCD super aggressive. it’s a vicious cycle. so i’m feeling sort of optimistic that a beta blocker can help. i know it won’t take the anxious thoughts away, but knowing that it’ll help the racing, climbing heart rate, and loosen my chest muscles, AND it’ll help with my vestibular migraines? i think that’s a win in and of itself. i’m hopeful 😌🙌🏻 and i would like to point out that i know medications will never do all of the work for you, that you have to meet them halfway, but the medications i previously mentioned ^ weren’t even meeting me a quarter of the way!
