Hey all! My therapist recently recommended that I ask my psych about Prozac for my OCD. I was wondering what are some common medications you guys have been on? I know it’s always a mixed bag but I just wanted some perspective. Thank you!
At first I was on lexapro (lol did not work well for me at ALL), now I’m on 150 mg of Zoloft and it’s not perfect but it feels slightly better than when I wasn’t on it. MUCH better than lexapro; that did nothing for me
I would say that I’ve got 50% reduction by being on 250mg Luvox (relative of Prozac). I’m thinking about going up to the full dose of 300 to see if that helps me any more. Years ago, I got a lot of relief being on Cymbalta 60mg. It helped me get through my first round of OCD. I may explore trying that again this summer.

If you don't already have a psychiatrist you can request a referral from your therapist or seek one that is specifically trained or well-informed about OCD (You'd think that would be all of them, but unfortunately there are a lot of providers who miss the mark here). I’ve used Prozac with success in the past, I went off it for awhile but my ocd flared and I needed another tool in my box to help, I’m on 30mg right now and starting to feel some relief it been just about a month, these medications take some time to be effective so if you choose to start hang in there
I feel like im the only one whos ever used paxil lol. I used to take 40 mg paxil. When i went off it the ocd exploded like an atom bomb.
I’ve been on Zoloft (Sertraline) and Luvox (Fluvoxamine). Both of them have worked very well for me!
Anybody here on medication for their OCD? I know everyone’s experience is different, and different medications work differently for different people, but I’m just trying to get a pulse on what to expect. I’m seeing a psychiatrist soon and I’m hoping to get some meds going.
