Real events OCD combined with hocd and pocd and harm ocd is making me feel so horrible... Ive made horrible mistakes as a child that I deeply regret (9-13) and now Im 22 about to turn 23... I feel like I dont deserve forgiveness cause of my childhood mistakes...
No worries about what you did as a child, you didnt know better. You cannot have guilt over that, remember guilt is just an Ocd symptom. F* the guilt and shame, focus on your values, you know you are a good person
Same here.... its the OCD that uses your past guilts against you, try to ignore as far as you can. By ignoring I mean accepting and not responding. Accept you made mistakes and that is part of being human, nobody is perfect and will never be. You probably learned from those mistakes and will never do them again so that means the mistakes were good lessons, nothing to hold on to in the present. How are you coping with the POCD/HOCD and Harm OCD ? Do you do ERP or meds?
I relate 100%. This has been the hardest part in my recovery. The fact that I watched porn at such a young age fills me with regret and been fuel for my so-ocd. You’re not alone. We have to be compassionate with ourselves. Idk if your Christian, but there’s a verse in Philippians that talks about this very thing. Paul, who literally killed so many Christians before becoming Christian himself says this, ”I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.“ Forgiving ourselves for our past mistakes is so difficult to do. But it keeps us in the past and it keeps us from the life we have now. We were just children when we did these things! We have to give our past selves grace. We aren’t that person anymore. Christ gives us new life, and we should be embracing it, and living it to the fullest! Our past actions don’t have to mean anything about us. We are the ones who assign meaning to our thoughts, we hold that power. It doesn’t have to mean anything
We all makes mistakes and u gotta forgive yourself for your past mistakes, the fact that u talking about this means that that is not u and u are a good person, u will get through this I swear and will overcome to true happiness
I have Real event ocd about things I did as a kid at 12/13. It’s killing me because it really happened but I feel like a different person now completely. my actions disgust me and it makes me feel like i don’t deserve to be alive. I constantly have flashbacks about the events and it sends me into a state of panic, I feel as if my younger self has traumatized my older self. i’m so scared that things I did make this true, i really am a bad person, even though i’m an adult now and would never never ever do that again. I’m so scared. All I want is to be a good person but I keep remembering gross things I did and now I feel like the biggest fraud to friends and family and everything good in my life.
Ive made horrible childhood mistakes at the ages of 12 and 13 I heavily regret... It was separate events when i was 12 and 13... I didn't know how horrible the mistakes were at the time... the mistakes were extremely horrible... i dont ever want to be what my pocd and real events ocd say about me... I genuinely feel so horribly and as a 22 year old in pre-med, idk if i even deserve happiness because of my extremely horrible childhood mistakes...
Hi everyone, I am 20 years old with ADHD and i need some help. Recently, i got diagnosed with OCD; and i am dealing with Real event OCD/intrusive thoughts. When i was 16, i said something out loud (i think that was impulsive/intrusive) that was immorally wrong and against my morals. I was aware of my wrong doing, yet i still said it because i announced it in a “jokingly way” i completely regret it and ashamed of it. i don’t want to go into detail on what i said, because i don’t feel comfortable. But anyways, at the time i didn’t think what i said was “bad” and i just brushed it off to the side. then 1-2 months later, i came to the realization, that what i said was wrong. Since then, i have been fixated on the event as i feel like a “bad person”. What is wrong with me? Why would i say that? I feel like i don’t deserve pity or forgiveness. I don’t know what to do. I am not trying to find reassurance. I just want to find people who share similar experiences.
