This is a newer and more recent thing for me and i’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience and can explain why. I have been having ocd dreams like intrusive dreams. My ocd is telling me it’s because I want these horrible things but I don’t at all and it’s upsetting that I can’t even get away from ocd when I sleep. This is so draining.
i have the same thing. OR sometimes i even have dreams of me having ocd where i feel aware like it’s real life but i’m asleep. i also have noticed the more i worry about what i’m going to dream about, the more often it’s what i was worried about. for example i have ROCD and i get so anxious that i’m going to have a dream about another guy and then i had those dreams like 3 times in one week
The more you obsess and stress about something in real life, the more likely it’ll pop up in your dreams. It isn’t a sign; just your brain working stuff out.
I have commented this before but here you go: It’s very common for ocd to do that initially. When you don’t address it in the waking life , it comes in the dreams because brain thinks you are not addressing the danger. It will subside if you just let it be and give it no reaction.
I’ve noticed this in myself as well. Lately I’m having stressful dreams and find myself even ruminating in my dreams sometimes. I couldn’t believe it the first time it happened but I think it’s could be a part of being in therapy/ actually working on the ocd. Sending you courage as we move forward as the only way out is through.
so you know how the more you have an intrusive thought, the more likely it is to show up in your dreams? well coming from someone who is atheist/agnostic and is skeptical on some holistic/spiritual takes on things, i am having a difficult time wondering why my intrusive thoughts are showing up in my dreams the way they do. once i wake up, whether it’s right afterwards or later in the day, i’ll remember the part of my dream that is totally fueled by an intrusive thought. unfortunately it’s not pleasant and very upsetting. so, how do any of you deal with this? i get worried and wonder if it has something to do with my subconscious trying to tell me something/having a spiritual meaning or a higher power trying to tell me something. these are super common ocd subtypes too so i know it’s that. i just struggle sometimes with the rumination.
The last couple of days i’ve been able to keep my ocd at bay and have been ocd free but now i’m having ocd in my dreams. This is so upsetting. 😪 Does this happen to anyone else?
Anybody relate to having dreams about what they’re obsessing about, like SO-OCD. I just had a dream like that and it was so disturbing. Even in the dream, it felt like I was doing compulsion after compulsion. I’m just tired
