Does anyone else ever experience serious OCD symptoms/spikes when they’re about to get their period or even worse during ovulation? I’ve noticed some of the worst bouts of anxiety and non stop racing intrusive thoughts during these times.
Yes! I noticed during my period and like you said ovulation is the worst time! My intrusive thoughts increase as well as my compulsions. I’ve even started to get panic attacks around those days as well. I brought it up to my therapist about ocds relationship with hormones and our periods and she said they don’t have any link yet but I think researchers are looking into it. So many women have been complaining about this issue that I hope they find a correlation between the two. It’s crazy to feel like you’re getting better and then know you’ll have a setback every month. Just know you’re not alone!!
this just happened to me last week! i started to panic really late one night and it sparked a really big relapse with my harm thoughts. i was terrified and confused because i had been doing so well. it then made me so scared what happened last summer was going to repeat itself this summer. i was able to mostly recover from it after a week but i’m pretty sure it had to do with ovulation. typically that happens around my period however.
Yes. I have the same problems. I don't have the intrusive thoughts but I do have anxiety. Not only do I have anxiety with it but I'm irritable, doubting, and my everyday things I do seem to be harder.
Yes yes and 100% yes. That’s why I take the pill continuously and only get my period once a quarter cause it’s so bad
Yes! Your menstrual period causes a spike in OCD. There is a correlation between the two. I hate it because the better you get in recovery, the scarier it feels when the spike hits. That’s how I’m able to keep up with my period nowadays smh. Just remember it’s still OCD.
Yes 100 percent, I experience this too and know how frustrating it is
So sorry you guys are going through this but am thankful to know I’m not alone! Hoping eventually there is more research done to see how hormones affect ocd and anxiety symptoms because it is crazy!
Does anyone like get extra anxious about an intrusive thought because you think to yourself “nobody else has probably had this thought.” “I must be crazy.” Idk those thoughts always seem to make my anxiety worse. I also have a fear of losing touch of reality and believing in crazy thoughts, if that makes sense? TMI but I also notice that my OCD is worse when I’m on my period. Can anyone else relate?
I'm curious if anyone experiences OCD how I do. Somedays I barely have any intrusive thoughts and if I do, they cause me minimal anxiety. Other days I'm so anxious and tortured by my thoughts I feel I can't go on. I've gone months with constant turmoil and months without. Anyone else?
I experience OCD in what feels like cycles. I have a couple of good days or weeks and then something out of the blue will trigger a flare up. I’m just wondering if anyone else goes through the same thing or if it’s kind of a constant state for you.
