So is anyone on OCD medications are they just anti depressants or do they actually stop the thoughts and the horrible images? If they are antidepressants are you just stuck with the thoughts and images?
hiii In my medication experience my doctor usually prescribes an SSRI which is an anti depressant but it boosts the amount of serotonin in your brain. You can also accompany the main medication with an actual anxiety medicine. For example I was on Prozac which is an SSRI and Hydroxyzine which is a take as needed anxiety antihistamine. In my experience so far the medicine doesn’t fully stop OCD but it helps to start the journey toward healing.
They take a few weeks to kick in, but they help take the anxiety and uncomfortable feelings away from the thoughts and eventually the thoughts will hopefully occur less. Just curious I’ve been doing so good with my ERP and I’m like 80% better but POCD seems to have a huge grip on me still. And while I’m not so afraid anymore my mind still loves to obsess about it and give me feelings (my ocd is very very feelings based) and wants me to think about the obsession.it’s mostly just annoying and tiring. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist to just have a convo about meds that could help with depression and OCD. Has anyone gone through this? And what does the medication for you? (I know everyone is different) does it stop your brain from obsessing so much? 🖤

Hi all, I’m planning to start anti depressants for OCD just wondered if anyone has found this effective with intrusive thoughts? I’m scared if once they have worked I go off them and have a relapse?
