CONTAMINATION OCD HELP

im at work, coworker had an OPEN WOUND BLEEDING and did not cover it. i had to go get them a bandaid because they basically refused to wear one. there’s a scab on my face that i picked that i noticed was bleeding, wiped it either with my shirt or the back of my hand and put some aquaphor. but now im scared there’s a chance the blood could have somehow gotten into my face and through that cut and now i have some disease or something. im really scared.

I am so sorry for you. The only thing you can do is wash your face and use an antibiotic. You can't make the event unhappen. You have to then say maybe I get sick maybe I don't and try to put it out of your mind and think of something else.

@Anonymous I’m really trying. It’s just such a small chance of something bad happening but the fact that there is a chance is bothering me. I’m gonna try to not worry.

All of us that suffer from contamination OCD feel your pain. You will probably not even think about this a day from now. When you say maybe it happens maybe not and accept the uncertainty of the result and move on you will truly win.

I think you would've noticed if blood got on it because if it was wet blood it would've make a mark on your face and if it was dry, i doubt it would've transferred at all. You could use some savlon cream, it's an antiseptic cream that will get rid of any bacteria in a open cut and put a plaster over it so you don't pick at it again. It would be safe to put it on your face. I've done it for cuts and bites and any irritation stops pretty fast

Even i have a bad phobia of HIV...i kissed someone few days back and feared that I may have contracted the disease. Multiple doctors assured that it's the rarest of the rare method to spread HIV and that too if both have bleeding gums which of course was not the case. Got multiple tests done which came negative... Doctors again told to move on since the tests were conclusive.. But the OCD is again spiking the urge to go for another test...which definitely I'm trying to resist... Browsing Google makes it worse which I'm trying my best to avoid...

I have a problem that I'm scared to catch a serious illness like hiv or aids from kissing people or becoming to close to them. It makes me get away from people and I have problems in relationships because I cant trust them if they are clean and I'm too freak... this Sunday I kissed a girl I met on tinder and she made me an scar on my mouth... and now I feel terrible cause if her blood got into my scar I may have caught hiv. I have been 3 days on terrible distress and this sucks... I dont know how to not think about it and I really dont talk to this girl anymore, I checked her mouth 2 or 3 times for injuries or blood (she didn't had any and I dont know if she has hiv or not) but I'm in terrible distress just for the fact that I had an open cut while kissing her and thst kiss could have made me sick with hiv. I really hate this and I hate myself and my decisions of kissing her. And this combines qith my religious compulsions... I'm really hating myself, OCD and illness right now... I'm in big distress and just want to vent a little bit. I just hope I didn't caught hiv from kissing this girl that made me an open cut as I said before but I cant be sure and this makes me crazy.... I just hate it... and hate this thoughts

So I’ve been doing so well lately. One of my biggest OCD themes besides harm is related to health and particularly STD’s within that. I’ve always had a fear of the STD’s that are incurable...particularly herpes though it’s effect on someone’s life is minimal. I’ve been sexually active recently (always with protection) and have noticed a spot on my penis. It very well could be acne or dermatitis of some kind but my OCD has already convinced me that it’s herpes and that I need to immediately get tested (which both my therapist and primary doctor have said would be feeding into the OCD unless it’s blatantly obvious that I need medical attention.) So I’m not sure what to do, any ideas how to cope with this anxiety, has anyone else had this form of OCD? Thank you in advance....

Contamination/Somatic OCD support

Hi i’m new here. Everyone in my family except me is now positive for Covid and i’m freaking out so badly i cannot sleep. i cannot eat. i’m worried i’m going to get sick, i have a phobia of throwing up too on top of all of this so it’s making this even more difficult hearing coughing/gagging/vomit. My face is literally tingling numb and i cannot sit still. I’m trying to calm myself the best I can because this is almost a nightmare to me but nothing is working and my therapist isn’t even responding to me. What do i do? i’m so scared
